thank you all for all of this information! some of it is obvious stuff but theres also some things i wouldnt even have thouht of! books can only give you so much information, personal experience is much better.
I wish you all the luck in the world..I just never could do it..There was one lady that had bred her little girl a couple times, and the last time, she lost the mother dog, I never saw her come back in the forum we were in after that, it devastated her, this is one reason I could never do it...but, I hope everything works out fine for you..

:eek: I guess this is a little off-topic, but I am constantly astounded at the high cost of vet care in some areas. Would you believe that an after-hours c-section costs less than $500 (and usually less than $400) here?

I was thinking the same thing, the only c-section I ever had was about 6 years ago and it was just over $400 on a Saturday night.

Wow I wish our after hour vet care was that price for an emergency c-section. California is expensive for everything here.

I use the Fish Mox (100 capsules)

It does not tell on the bottle how to mix it but the folks at Revival gave me a sheet with directions so you need to ask. I always mix up enough for 3 days. One pill will treat a 7 lb female for one day. I have a small medicine bottle with a dropper in it and I take 6 droppers full of luke warm water and add 3 capsules of the Fish Mox and shake well, keep refrigerated not longer than 3 days. When needed I give the mom one dropper full in the morning and one dropper full in the evening. Also, my vet is the one that told me this is fine to use, it is no different that what they give but it is not flavored.

There is one other product I get from Revival that I could not do without and that is Albon 40% injectable.

One of the most serious problems breeders encounter with puppies is coccidiosis.

I don't care how clean you keep you kennel or breeding facility your puppies can get coccidiosis. The mom might be a carrier of it and the pups get it from the mom. Revival provides a sheet on how much to give them. I give it orally to my puppies at the first sign of soft stools. I use a 1cc syringe with a needle and I drawn out 0.11 for a 2 lb pup the first dose and following doses will be 0.05; I remove the syringe from the needle and squirt in puppy's mouth. Note: 0.05 cc is equal to about 2 drops, it is a very small amount. Also, keep in mind that when you are weaning puppies and they are going from mommas milk to solid food they sometimes get runny stools so you don't know if it is coccidiosis or diet but the Albon will stop the diarrhea in either case.

Great info!!! Thanks! I got my Brodie from a great breeder and he had it too. Took him to the vet and they gave me albon and it cleared right up:thumbup: I know I hate reading how people think it makes the breeder bad, but in realality anyone can get it.

Is this the same as the vet gives?
