Yorkmont Yorkies-Bad or Good breeders?? I first found this site when I had just gotten my little Lexie. Well, after only a week and 4 days at the ER vet, we were not able to save her. It was devastating, but I really would like another chance with another Yorkie. They think she had a congenital disorder, so this time around I really want a quality breeder that is reputable and well recognized. My mom did some research and found Yorkmont Breeders in GA(where I am located). I tried to do some research on here, but am getting really mixed signals. Is this breeder reputable and on the up and up or is there a reputable GA breeder (or neighboring states) that would be a better option? I really appreciate your opinions and help. Jessica |
I am so sorry about your baby :( It must be devestating to have lost your baby from a congential defect. There are many many members here with yorkies that were born with congenital problems...unfortunately, they are too common in this breed. This is why I believe it is so important to find a reputable breeder that health screens all their dogs and knows their lines. I don't know anything about the breeder you asked about. I usually refer people to the YTCA's breeder list as a starting place. However, it is then important for you to ask all the right questions to determine if they are ethical and someone you're comfortable buying from. And I'm sure there are reputable breeders outside of that list...but like I said, it's just a good starting place in my opinion. Here are the Georgia YTCA breeders http://www.ytca.org/breeder4.html#GA TyAva has the #1 yorkie in the country right now. He is beautiful. |
Try Tina at VanGogh Yorkies She is a member here her YT name is Topknot Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |
I don't know anything about this breeder, but they have a website: http://www.yorkmontyorkshireterriers.com/ If I read correctly, she also breeds Maltese. They have adds on the internet promoting their pups as "tinies" that are guaranteed to be 'under 4 lbs,' but they do seem to be selling on s/n contracts... Deanna, Don't you have a Yorkmont girl? |

I still don't know much about the breeder. I had to send money to her within one hour to reserve her for me and yep I ran like crazy to the Credit Union had it wired to her within the hour. Then waited and waited for her to be shipped:confused:  I don't know if that is still her way of payment or not but I would never do that again for any dog. :thumbdown I was new and very niave. Lady died last year of lung cancer. I had petted her out to a wonderful family in KY. They now have adopted my Chatty. Lady was a very compact, not much leg but broad. very very very very sweet girl. She is Struts granddam. Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |
[F]When I first looked at the website, it seemed very informative and the contract and the fact she keeps the puppies so long seemed great. But then after googling more info on her, I found where she sells on doggie websites online. And I know from here the fact that she breeds other types is also not good. Both of those were reasons I was a little iffy and wanted more info. [/FONT] |
Having 1 or 2 different breeds doesn't mean that a breeder is not reputable . |
i spoke to a breeder recently inquiring about some of her dogs and she told she had a "nightmare expereince" with a dog she bought from Yorkmont. I didn't ask what it was. Figured it wasn't my business. |
