Labor? Cozy is expecting any day now. Due Feb 14th. Normal temp during pregancy 99.2- 99.9 Thursday and Friday temp 97.5 Thurday throw up a little possibly car sickness- Throw up about 10 min. after car ride. Still eating and drinking. This am temp 100.0 No nesting. Vet said she is fine and to stop worrying. Can't help it first litter and unplanned. Could she be in silent labor. Zero contractions Resless only at night between midnight and 3 am for last week. Note- Computer at home broken so I won't be able to check again until Monday. Public Library is closing in a few minutes for weekend. |
It is normal for the temp to go up and down. Usually once it drops to 99 or below and stays there they will have their pups within 24 hours but there are exceptions. Is Feb. 14 her 61st day? Keep in mind some females can safely have their pups a few days earlier. I have had a couple females have them on the 59th and 60th days. As long as you feel the pups moving you should have nothing to worry about. Do you know how many pups she is expecting? Just try not to worry and keep us posted (if you can) on how she is doing. |
The small, short drops in temperature are normal I personally would not worry if she were mine yet. Her progesterone level must come down for puppies to be born, there will be some short drops before the last big drop. When progesterone levels drop, so does their temp, so they go hand in hand. Her temp will drop about 2 degrees from her normal temp so if she is in the 99's normally then you are looking for a temp drop in the 97's more than likely. The temp will go down, may drop down further a couple hours later and will flucuate some, but will remain lower than normal until labor begins. I would be taking her temp 3-4 times a day at this point, especially with this being unplanned and your first litter. Keep track too, write it all down! |
