Reputable Breeder in Arkansas

Does anyone know of any reputable breeders in Arkansas? My grandmother had her yorkie for about 12 years, but Tootsie passed away several years ago. It was devastating for both my granny and papaw. Although I know Tootsie can never be replaced...I've decided it's time to welcome a new furbaby into their family. My granny's birthday is March 31, and I would LOVE to suprise her with a new baby! Both of my grandparents are in good health, and are retired.... I know they would provide a wonderful loving home. Their entire life would revolve around this furbaby! When they had Tootsie, they would refuse to even go out to eat b/c they were afraid Toots would get too lonely. :D Oh I hope this works out!! I have no doubt that my grandparents can afford the expense of a yorkie, but I'm a little concerned about finding a yorkie to buy her that is within my budget! My husband and I are on a tight budget right now, but my grandmother has done so much for us, and she has not been the same since the passing of Tootsie! I can not imagine the look on her face if I were to give her a precious baby for her birthday!

I think it's so sweet you want to give your grandparents another yorkie. Instead of surprising her with a puppy, I think it would be better to let her pick out the puppy with you.

I suggest going to the YTCA's website and looking at their breeders http://www.ytca.org/breeder4.html

There is one listed in Arkansas. I don't know anything about her but its worth looking into.

There are also several listed in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

Reputable breeder in Arkansas

A reputable breeder that I have bought a puppy from is Wanda at Stonewall Ranch. She is a good breeder and is reat to work with both before and after you get the puppy. I see she has beautiful puppies on her website now.

I know this post is a bit outdated but I just wanted to add that I too bought Zoe from Wanda in Arkansas. :)

I personally would NOT buy from this person. Way too many red flags in my opinion:

Sells "Teacups"
Breeds "Designer" Mixes
Breeds Several breeds
Lots of puppies currently for sale
Sells with full registration w/ full breeding rights

I did buy from her and am very happy with Zoe, however, I have tried to contact her since, even about an additional purchase and have yet to hear from her.

She is a very nice lady and is knowledgable about the yorkie breed. With that said, I do agree with the ?'s about the amount of different breeds and such. I am the type, sometimes to a fault, to give the benefit of the doubt.

My husband wants to breed Belgium Malinois because of his love for that breed. He has one as a K-9 police partner. Would that make me a bad breeder to have two different breeds? How many is too many....personally, I wouldn't want to do any other than Yorkies but that is just me. What is your opinion on this? I believe Wanda has three different breeds and of course the "designer dogs".

Would I buy from her again.....I didn't. I ended up going with a different breeder for Peppee.

It is very sweet of you to consider that another Yorkie would add to your grandparents' lives. However, I wonder if (perhaps) one past the puppy stage wouldn't be more appreciated at this time of their lives? Remember the puppy stage - crying for litter mates through the night, potty training (which, in Yorkies can sometimes take months), teething (chewing absolutely everything!) Sometimes, breeders are willing to part with retired females, or those who don't quite make it in the show ring. Just a thought....:)

I personally don't feel like breeding two breeds, or even more for that matter, makes you a bad person. As long as you are doing it ethically. Selling "designer" dogs is not ethical.

I completely agree! :p

Try contacting Toni from TJ's Yorkies . com she has some beautiful yorkies and I know that she just had a litter about five weeks ago. She is usually very reasonable on her prices and stands behind what she says regarding her babies. Terri

Having more than one breed doesn't automatically rule a breeder out to me. But it's something that makes me a little more cautious. "Accidental" mixed breed litters are a possibility with breeders that have more than one breed, and I also I think it's difficult to become an expert on ONE breed, let alone two or three. I do know of some reputable breeders that have more than one breed though. I would consider someone who bred maybe two breeds (although I prefer to buy from someone that only breeds one)..but three or more is a rule out for me personally (but doesn't necessarily mean they are a bad breeder).

What is an absolute no no to me though is breeding mixes on purpose. I will never ever support a breeder that does that. HUGE deal to me

erickajm 03-03-2008 08:19 PM

I completely agree with you. The whole "designer" dog upsets me to no end! I can't imagine trying to breed more than one..Zoe and Peppee just did the deed and although I feel like I've researched everything I can possibly think of..I am so nervous hoping I don't forget anything (this will be her 1st).

Eventually yes, we will probably breed Malis for my husband to train for departments but that will be IT.

After over two months of researching breeders I finally came to my decision!!! I have put down a deposit for my grandmother's puppy!! I also took MyFairLacy's advice, and once I chose a breeder I had my grandmother come and choose her puppy! She is so ecstatic and can hardly wait to get her! The breeder says the pup should be ready Saturday as long as she continues eating well. My whole family is so excited to have this new baby in the family! As far as my Bella...I hope she adjusts well! I don't know how she will react...she is used to having all eyes on her :p This is so exciting!! I haven't seen my grandmother this happy since she had Tootsie! Now she wants me to name the new lil girl  ... I have no idea yet! Here are a few pics of us visiting the baby girl! The first is a pic of the momma and daddy.
