CalSorb how many use it? I don't see many of the breeders mention CalSorb here. How many use it? I love it and wouldn't be caught with out it. I use to keep the Oxcy shot on hand instead. But I prefer the CalSorb over the Oxcy any day. Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |

Well I tried to get oxy from my vet and he does not feel comfortable giving it to me (stating if its injected incorrectly it could do harm, doesage amount...etc...) So he won;t sell me any. I'm very interested in Calsorb and read about it I beleive on here? Can you give me more information on it? I have a female who has not deleivered on her own without an oxy shot...would clasorb help me in her situation? THANKS! |
I used it my last delivery. Does it ever make your mama throw up? |
I keep it on hand here and also nursemate. I wouldn't be without it IMO. |
I keep oxy/cal shot combos on hand, calsorb and nursemate..IMO theyre all a must have, also now have frozen beef liver ice cubes. |
I keep Cal-sorb on hand at all times. A couple of years ago I had a female get eclampsia. She had six week old pups and I had been giving her calcium pills but for some reason that morning she would not eat. About mid morning she starting have the seizures and it scared me to death. I immediately got the cal-sort and gave her a dose. Within 15 minutes she was back to normal. After that I made sure my females always eat 3 times a day, the last feeding around 9:30 in the evening. Sometimes it does make them vomit if you give too much at once. Deanna, how do you use it in place of the Oxy? Do you give it to them during delivery and how much? I get mine from Revival Animal Health Products. |

I have always heard it can make them throw up but I have never yet had one too. Just watch my next girl due will I have had girls to throw up before I ever used Calsorb and it was simply the pushing etc Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |

I leave the Oxy to my vet if I get in that situation now. I just don't like the problems that can be caused from those shots. And if I need it I would rather a vet check my girl then give it. I know a few people who lost their females that way and I don't ever want to go thru that. Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |

I had one girl that had a hard time and had to have Oxcy shots and I used Calsorb with her after she was dialted/open and I gave it to her to make her contractions stronger and she was able to have her babies just fine. With the other girls I have noticed they sometimes have weaker contractions after the first pup or so, so I use it then also to get contractions started again. I love this stuff. My last litter I had a slow male and used nutridrops and WOW! It worked and seemed to give him the strength he needed to start nursing on his own. Is this better or the same? |
