Chewy's tail is docked and it's about an inch or so... with hair falling down over it, it looks like a fountain!!!

I love them both... The docked tail can be very cute, Saidie's tail is also very cute... she wages it all the time. :D

It doesn't bother me that some people like the long tails, I have had a few with long tails. What does bother me is someone wanting to make their opinions of undocked tails be the law and make that choice for me.
We show and we do dock our tails for show and I have not yet had one Yorkie that had problems from being a dog with a docked tail.
We are lucky that we have choices and the more choices we try to take away from each other the more miserable we will become.
Thats just the way I feel about it.

No offense taken. I really could not careless if everyone thinks I'm wrong because as you said everyone has an opinion. I was just saying that I personally am against docking and I'm not trying to make everyone agree with me. As someone who wishes to show in the future I was just trying to get more information on the chances for an undocked tail Yorkshire Terrier's chances of being successful in the show ring.

I was not the only one that agreed that you were. Yes, others had answered with their opinion but didn't imply on what research I had or had not done as you did. I tried to be diplomatic not rude towards you. I could not careless about your opinion as I have read some of your threads and know what kind of person I'm dealing with here. I didn't jump the gun quickly I'm not that kind of person. If you see the time between diva pup's post and my reply you can see a huge time gap. I re-read diva pup's reply a few times over and over to make sure I was reading correctly and from seeing old threads and posts from diva pup I saw what kind of person I was dealing with and replied as I saw fit.

I wish they would too yorkiegirl2. Is there nothing that can be done to stop docking? I mean can't there be a petition to stop docking? I know that some people might think that the dogs look better or prettier with docked tails or their ears cut but its not fair that we do that to a living creature just because we want them to look a certain way. Its cruel and I know that its done when they are just a few days old so there wont be any complications but still its painful for them.

I think thats where the confusion is.
I myself don't care if you want your dogs tails docked or undocked but I want to make my own choice in the matter is what I am saying and others too.

Starting in May, you CAN show a yorkie with a full tail in UKC. It will not be considered a fault at all. Not AKC tho. I show in both venues a little.

It's not a disqualification it's a fault just like a bad bite, bad top line, ect...
Our standard only has a DQ for color.
I prefer a docked tail as long as it's done at a very young age not waiting until they are older and if the standard calls for a docked tail then I'm good with it but if the standard were to change for an undocked tail I could live with that also :)

Personally, I don't like docking and lately only do it under pressure when I think a litter is highly likely to produce a show prospect. Since I also don't particularly care for showing, I may stop doing that too...Last trip to the vet those puppies cried and bled and I swore I'd never dock again. You can show before most US judges with undocked tails, but brace yourself for a lot of grief from breeders who are stubbornly clinging to the notion that the tail spoils the whole look of the dog---can't remember the exact way I alst heard it put...Anyway, it is barbaric and illegal in most civilized countries.

I don't have any strong feelings, pro or con, regarding tail docking. I do think it's interesting that some countries consider it a barbaric practice while they make no laws regarding circumcising little human boys. :aimeeyork :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :)

I would consider it barbaric if someone put a rubberband around the tail and let it rott off. That's bararic.
