[QUOTE=Freyja;1713801]I don't appreciate the fact that you are implying that I have not done my research because I have it seems to me that you are the one that needs to do research on the matter of docking. Here is some light reading for you: Well thank you for the reading material but I was not implying anything towards you:confused: others had answered with their opinions too so it was a generalization. There was certainly no need to be rude, as I stated it was just my opinion, did you think yours was the only one that counted? |

Unfortunately you can't show a Yorkie here with a tail. |
You can show a yorkie here with a tail but don't be surprised if you don't win or your excused from the ring :) It's not a disqualification it's a fault just like a bad bite, bad top line, ect... Our standard only has a DQ for color. I prefer a docked tail as long as it's done at a very young age not waiting until they are older and if the standard calls for a docked tail then I'm good with it but if the standard were to change for an undocked tail I could live with that also :) Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

I have noticed there is a lot of variation in tail lengths on docked tails. One Yorkie I bought about 8 years ago had hardly any tail and I did not like that at all. When I first started docking tails I was told to cut where the brown meets the black on the underside of the tail. That was o.k. for a pet Yorkie but a little to short for show. Now I am docking the tails a little longer and when I sell a pup some people think it is not docked because they are use to seeing really short tails on Yorkies. I just explain to them that for show the tail needs to be a little long. I know some vets dock them way to short. I just think that because of the Yorkies long coat it just looks neater being docked. |

Sadie has her tail 3 Attachment(s) Her breeder doesn't dock the tails any more. Sadie's brother is going to be a show dog with his tail. My breeder knows some judges won't like it but she is going to show him any way. These pups come from good blood lines I'm told and the brother seems to be show quality. Chewy's tail is docked and it's about an inch or so... with hair falling down over it, it looks like a fountain!!! I love them both... The docked tail can be very cute, Saidie's tail is also very cute... she wages it all the time. :D |

It doesn't bother me that some people like the long tails, I have had a few with long tails. What does bother me is someone wanting to make their opinions of undocked tails be the law and make that choice for me. We show and we do dock our tails for show and I have not yet had one Yorkie that had problems from being a dog with a docked tail. We are lucky that we have choices and the more choices we try to take away from each other the more miserable we will become. Thats just the way I feel about it. Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |
