What do you think? 1 Attachment(s) I had Lacie at the vets office a couple of weeks ago. The vet was out but the tech thought she felt 3-4 walnut size bumps. It is now 3 weeks from due date of Feb. 15th and she really isn't getting any bigger. Her stomach feels firmer, but it's not bulging by any means. She goes for her xray on Feb. 7th, but I just thought I'd asked your opinions here. AND Speaking of getting bigger...I got my scale in and weighed her and she's bigger than I thought. She weighs 4.16# as of last Friday. Gizmo is almost 6# (5.8#) But I know she been this size for a while. I don't think it's new growth, I think I was just under est. her weight. Question: Do you think she's PG and just not gaining??? Should I be concerned. I've been told by the vets office she may not show until the last 2 weeks. Is that right?? Also I know I need to shave her belly before birth. Do you shave all the hair off or how far up on her chest?? Do you also trim the sides of your mothers? Thank you in advance for any help/opinions you have. Dawn |
I would think if she was 3 weeks before due date that her teats would be looking like they were getting a little milk. My girls teats start to swell before that. Sometimes if they only have two or three, they dont really get that big. I shave the hair on the belly and cut the hair on the skirt shorter. I have had puppies get tangled in the hair and almost strangle themselves if I didnt cut it. Good luck, we will be waiting to see what the xrays say. |
I really pray that she has a safe delivery. I believe you should shave all the way up to her last teat. I don't know if it's necessary to cut the side of her hair. Just make sure the babies don't get tangled up in her. How long is her hair now? Maybe you should give her a puppy cut. I heard that the first time breeders won't show as much as the experienced breeder. Even though she's 4 pounds, it's still too small to breed, but I say it's better than 3 pounds. I hope that was her original weight. I also heard that some will gain weight around the last weeks. Each individual dog is different. How is she eating? Again, I will pray for you. Good luck! Please, keep us posted when you get the x-rays. |
She dosent look pg to me in the pics but they are all different. They can also absorb them.So if the vet felt 3 she could of absorbed one or two or all of them it does happen. Time will tell.Is she eating more? Many will have a false pregnancy also they look and eat like they are pg but the end result is no pups. |
Yeah, the flash made it hard to see the belly. Can you post another picture? |
pups She is only 3 weeks, much too early...mine fill out at 5 to 5 5 1/2 weeks. Treat her like she is, because she most likely IS......an early xray is not very accurate..so di it again at 8 weeks or wait ... |

If it's a delivery date on feb 15th, that's 2 1/2 weeks, and when my shih tzu was that far along, she was showing pretty good by then..? |

Dawn, I was thinking about your Lacie last night and wondering how she was doing. If she is pregnant, I hope everything goes smoothly |

today she weigh 4 lbs 3.4oz |
Well now we are down to the last 2 weeks~if indeed she is pg. She seems to be "acting" pg. I was going to go by the vets office with her today, but we got hit with 3-4" of snow last night with more coming still. so I think we'll be staying home. Yes she does eat more. Almost double usual. and always seems to want extra. I've been offering food freely all day for her because she eats a little at a time. I'll try to get a better picture. |

Mamary developmenet should be occuring now also if she has only 2 weeks left If you have a singleton you will not have much mammary or belly.I have had 2 singletons and they did not have much mammary or tummy but you could tell they had something in there. |
2 Attachment(s) I can't seem to get a good pic. Any ideas??? With the flash it is too much...without it is blurry and dark. here is what I got today. I shaved her hair on her belly also. |
