any suggestions appreciated one of my 9 week ols puppies as loose stools and has had for awhile, he has been to vet and on albon for 2 days now but still loose today so vet suggested i give some pepto, but what i am wondering what i can feed him that might allow his little tummy to settle down til the meds can work lol!! by this i mean something i can cook for him or something i can buy other than his reg food and ty |
Boil him some white chicken (breast). no seasonings of any kind. if he will eat it, mix it with cooked rice. mine never would eat the rice but if they get upset stomach, i put them on boiled chicken for a couple of days. oh and BTW, you probably should be treating ALL the nine weeks old with the ALBON. Not just the one. |

I wouldn't give pepto yet. It can cause some to have bleeding as it contains salicylates. I would go get some bene-bac from a pet store and give that plus a teaspoon of canned pumpkin. If you can't find the bene-bac, yogurt may work but not as well. Bene-bac will balance out the natural intestinal bacteria. I hope the baby gets better soon. |
Just a little canned pumpkin would work it's natural and helps with loose stools and constipation also. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |
ty knew about the chicken and rice: had heard about yogurt but wasnt sure on that if plain or what? ty for the pumpkin never knew that one im willing to try anything boy i tell u u can have dogs and puppies for yrs and never have anything and then have this, it can really boggle ur mind esp when u have puppies getting diarrhea at the same time that one of ur female has an emergency with vomiting bright red blood it can cause ur mind to spin and u forget all good sense u have. ty to all that left posts..I do my research and was looking for any ideas ty again |
How are the puppies doing this morning? Just curious did the vet say if they had coccidia? What are you feeding your babies? I hope they are doing better. I know you have been through a lot. |
