huh? what are the steps to breeding cause I'm getting different answer and I know theres only one right answer to this:confused: .but the reason for this question is that i'm going to be breeding in one year:eek: .A maltese and a yorkie terrier together the reason for this is cause i love the breed:p theres not many of them i'm not those people that breed for money or love mixing dogs or anything i'm not about mixing dogs I was totally against it.I fell in love with the breed I would like to make the breed better it's likely that I'm just going to give the puppies away for free to a good home.:D 1. I would like to know if i can buy an already made whelping box or does anyone have any ideas for one? 2. How do you make a website? how much do they cost? 3. Where can I sell my puppies at cause selling my puppies in a classified ad is something that I would never want to do 4. Any mississippi breeders here I would like to talk to one i'm sorry this is long i've tried to make it short lol but thanks in advance for the help.;) |
I meant whelping like when do you know the puppies are coming etc. etc. |

Hi in order to make the breed better, You need to stick with one breed or the other. not mixing them. How can you better a breed by mixing? Why do you need a website to sell the pups? you just said you would be giving them away for free? You should probaly leave the breeding for those who know more about it. Mixing isent a goodthing. research and learn all you can before jumping in and just breeding two dogs. |

I agree. You said you were giving them away free and then you ask where to sell them??? What's up with that? |
do you have a pictrue of the whelping box your talking about? I know that but I meant to say that like make a healthier better breed a yorkie terrier isn't really purbred they mixed and mixed dogs until they got the yorkie terrier  i've already done research for both breeds:p I knew you were going to say that but a good example of a mix breed that's healthy is the yorkie terrier if you read the history you will see that they are mixed:) I'm not trying to start an arguement or anything I was just asking questions......:( I said I would likely give them away I didn't say if i was going to sell them or not the purpose for me asking these questions is to better my knowlege of breeding:) I didn't ask questions to be shot down like this:( |
I understand what you are saying about the yorkie being bred to where it is today, but "today" it is a recognized breed with standards that are met by quality reputable breeders. There are so many mixed dogs out there and just because they are wonderful, intelligent and beautiful does not mean that they should be bred, or that they will one day become a recognized breed. I don't think that anyone is trying to offend you, but is trying to give you advice. And I do have to say some of what you are saying isn't making sense. Why do you want to go through all the expense of pre-breeding tests for dad and mom, all the vet expenses for mom while pregnant, and then all of the expense and possibly heartache of whelping just to give these babies away in the end??? |
I love would snow to see litte snows (my dog) but I love never put her in a situation I though she couldn't handle or I though would harm her. I have the money and time for this is something I really want to do. I know people think that since I've never breed yet that I don't know much you ahve to go from first time breeder to experienced breeder but I've done the research i'm just seeing if my research was correct i'm double checking |

The "mix" you are talking about is called a Morkie and it's very popular. The mother is the Maltese and the father is the Yorkie. I've never heard of it the other way around, but I guess that would be a Yokiese or a Yalta? My grandaughter has a Maltese that usually has 4 or 5 puppies, but there's always one or two from the litter that doesn't make it. So she wants to try my smaller male Yorkie with her female Maltese, because she likes the breed combination and hopes that all the puppies will survive if they are smaller. Good Luck with your puppies? |
No advice here as I'm not a breeder, but I just hope that you've thought through wanting to breed a mixed breed dog. There really are so many unwanted mixes out there, it's very sad. Are you going to have all the health testing done before you breed? Again-- I'm not trying to be rude, just curious.. |
huh? Let me understanding what you are saying..I am slow.... You have spent much time and study into how to improve the breed of the Yorkshire Terrier by changing it into another breed....why did you pick a Maltese? Why not a poodle, JRT or cocker..what is it about the Maltese that makes it ideal to produce the perfect Yorkie? |
A mutt is a mutt is a mutt. There's nothing wrong with a mutt and if you want a mutt than that's fine. I do feel that it is wrong to charge people alot of money for a dog that is a mutt and ridiculous to talk about improving a breed when it isn't a breed and there is no standard in which to use. Many of the breeds that were used to develop the yorkie are now extinct since the yorkie was an improvement on that breed. Adding a maltese to the mix isn't going to improve the yorkie and we certainly don't want yorkies or maltese to stop being bred in favor of a new breed called a morkie. New breeds are develped for a purpose, for what purpose would this new breed be developed? |
