Twins anyone ? Hi again ...getting off THAT debate....lol Ok...both debates ....:) This may be a bit off topic....but want something lighter I breed and raise Certified (with championship blood lines) Nigerian dwarf goats..... ChineseGeese and Silky (pom pom) white chickens...and Indian runners Anyways, those of you who do have chickens , ducks, and geese know that to be able to hatch a egg with twins is rare. I had one twin egg hatch and both live. And both times I bred my goats they had "twins" BUT they were in seperate sac's and had their own placenta... But I was still told they were called twins. But do Yorkies ever have twins? Would they be in the same sac. Same placenta? And if any of you have had that happen. Do the survive? I'm not sure about yorkies having twins. However, we used to raise goats. Boers, specifically. It was very common for them to have twins, triplets and even quads. At one point we had over 100 goats on our farm. It was insane during kidding season. I spent many, many nights in the barn huddled under a heat lamp, lol. We had 4 sets of quads during our last kidding, 2 sets of triplets and the rest all had twins. Not one singleton birth. It really was amazing. |
in my embryology class, we looked at conjoined twin fetuses in lab last week. We had goats, sheep, kittens, and puppies. I don't know how common identical twinning is in dogs, but I do know it happens. |
We had twin girls last year,one sac one placenta and two cords to the placenta very rare though. I took it into my vet to see he had only seen it twice before.Both of the girls survived. My brother raises all kinds of the featherd birds and just loves it he has a incubator he takes most of the eggs.He has got Canadian Geese,Guinnies(sp)Chickens ,Turkeys,couple kinds of ducks,and some of those chickens with feathers on their feet? His girls take those chickens to the county fair to show. My neighbor just had baby goats also but no twins. |
litters Would it be the difference in identical twins and frateral (did I spell it correctly)?? Two Yorkie puppies born in a litter are twins, but not identical, 3 are triplets, but not identical..4 and so on...never had two in one sac or sharing one plancenta...so I guess identical twins are very rare in Yorkies. Interesting thought... |
Yorkie Rose I am still in 2007 it was 2006 we had that litter with twin girls.I had called Rini after that whelping and she said take it to the vet (placenta etc),he has been a vet for over 30 years and had only seen it twice before and it was in bigger dogs,he said he woudl of never belived me if I would of not brought the evidence for it is so rare.She had a really hard time deliverying also but both girls did make it.Today they both weigh the same and look the same.They did stay very small though under 3lbs. |
twins That is really amazing...I would love a set of twins...!!! People, used to come visit my kennel and asked how I could tell them all a part..they thought everyone looked the same...perhaps, a family resemblance, but different... |

I have twins!! Mikayla and Bailey are twins and were born in the same sack according to the breeder I bought them from. They arent identical twins though. |
I have half a set of twins! Cali has a twin sister..her name is Sammie. The were born in the same sac :) I was thisclose to getting Sammie from her owner a couple of months ago, but it didn't happen :( |

Thank goodness Yorkies dont SCREAM like goats will do sometimes while having their babies.... I've also had little ones in my house under heat lights. Both times we had twins. But I really cant stand the thought of breeding them then one dying like one little one did last time at 2 weeks old , then it died in my arms as we headed for the vets :( Debbi |

Had a couple literally freeze solid and I was able to bring them back and they were just fine. And yes, I've also held many as they died. It was always heartbreaking and I cried every time. When my mamas were giving birth I would crawl in the pen with them so I could sit by them. They'd lay their heads in my lap and I could rub their heads. I just loved them. They were so sweet. Except for the few that were wilder than fleas, lol. Now yorkies on the other hand... they are superwoman when they give birth. None of mine have ever made noises, just grunts. |
We had a x-ray and just knew we were having 4 puppies. |
