new first time mama rejecting pups?... My newborns, 3 days old...what signs do I look for in the first time mom if she is rejecting her pups? She keeps taking her blanket and seems like trying to re-arrange it, many times, making a nest, but she gets rough w/them while she's doing it...It's like she can't get comfortable. She's nursing well...could it be that theye are too hot or drafty? Rejecting them? |

Mine did this too... Just wait till weaning time... Then she will fluff up a corner and bring up soft food for the puppies. Dont worry about fluffing hun, unless she is being to rough. A couple times this happened. and I said NO NO !!! and mama looked up at me like whatZ?!?!?!?!?!?!? Not sure of course , but I think as long as they are feeding well ,not crying alot all is well Debbi |
she rooting and nesting, just make sure you dont have more than a small blanket so she can bury them under it. Keep her confined, where she feels safe and the pups should be warm...make sure no drafts and heat is up high or use a heating pad under the bed on one side down on low ... congrats on the new kids:D |
