Anyone familiar with this Georgia breeder? The name of the breeder is "familyyorkies.com". Anyone have any input, good or not so good, on this breeder? |
I am not familiar with him but I keep seeing this add in the AJC classifieds. There is something about his website that I don't feel comfortable with but I can't pinpoint it. I am also looking for a reputable breeder in the Atlanta area. |
Yes, I felt the same way. Not enough info on the web site to feel comfortable enough to make me want to contact them. Thanks for your response. |
I am not familar with the breeder, I just wanted to Welcome you to YorkieTalk. Good luck finding that perfect baby! There are several reputable breeders in Central/North Georgia that might be able to help. |
Buyer's Contract We guarantee against hereditary defect or congenital for a period of six months from the date of birth, proven by a licensed veterinarian, which will prevent the animal from living a normal life as a companion pet. In most states, the breeder cannot sell the puppies until 8 weeks old. So by time you have purchased your little one, you only have 4 months to discover a hereditary defect? Breeders... is this acceptable? |

Here is a website that Ladymom posted on another thread that you might find helpful. Breeders in GA that belong to the Yorkshire terrier Club of America: http://www.ytca.org/breeder4.html#GA |
It is really hard to find nice yorkies in Georgia when compared to some other states, but we also do have some very good and reputable breeders too. If interested there is an AKC show coming up Feb. 1,2,3rd in Atlanta off of 285 - at the Atlanta Exposition Center (off of Jonesboro Road). Ring times are as followed: Friday - Ring 15 at 1:00, Saturday - Ring 14 at 11:20, and Sunday - Ring 9 at 12:40. I will be there only on Sunday showing, but watching on Saturday. Friday - I have to work. But you might want to go and watch and then talk to some of the breeders (some will be only handlers) after the ring time. If you go to the grooming area after the ring times is best. We are all pretty busy before that. Some of us to not have to go to the grooming area and just leave right from the ring after showing (breed judging is over). We usually have a pretty good turn out and some of the best yorkies showing. Here is the total count of yorkies entered for this show (Friday - 23, Sat. - 26, Sun. - 25). FYI - most of us do not advertise in the local paper. We usually have a waiting list. T. |
He's real. I met the guy, his name is Justin something (I don't remember). We're buying a female yorkie from him, he's really nice, and he's a strong Christian. We went to his house to talk to him about buying a yorkie, and payed the deposit of $150. We're going to pick her up in 2 weeks on March 5th. And I'm so excited! He's real, I met him, his wife, and he has two kids. He also breeds maltese. :animal-paMelissa |

Best of luck with your new female!:) |
I had no idea what I was doing when I got my yorkie, and I would not recommend them. After finding YT and doing lots of reading after I already had my girl , I realized that they were a broker (at least they were a few years ago). My girl is thankfully healthy (so far) at 2.5 years old and weighs 11.5 lbs with floppy ears and what I think is a hard silk coat (doesn't matt, but it won't grow much past around what I figure a normal 8 month old puppy's coat looks like). I couldn't love her anymore, but I now know how to go about finding a reputable breeder. |
I just wanted to add I went to the website, and some of those puppy pictures appear to be the same ones that were on the website when I got my girl 2 years ago. :( |

Do a little checking and you will find they also sell Maltese and Shih Tzu's. Don't breed for money? Hmmmm |
