Help! Porsche, the puppies, and I spent the night, well at least a few hours of it, finally curled up in the downstairs bedroom. I am afraid to leave her alone with the puppies! They start crying and she goes berserk, running back and forth and whining. She starts grabbing one of them up, by whatever leg or piece of skin she can grab to take them somewhere. :( Where? I:confused: 'm not sure.It seems to hurt them when she does this. So finally I took them all into the bedroom to curl up (I am trying to keep them warm) for a few hours sleep. Hence, here I am again. Chatting...hoping someone is out there, also not getting any sleep tonight. |

No work I teach so I took a sick day, although I am technically not sick. I couldn't go off and leave Porsche alone with the puppies yet. I would've been sick with worry. :( I really shouldn't be telling all this, but I am past the point of worrying about it now. :secret: So, now I've got the day to get lesson plans, correct papers, and get ready for a week of teaching, if Porsche and the puppies will let me. Maybe I'll even get a nap. Porsche finally dragged the puppies up into her favorite spot on the couch. She wouldn't stay in the whelping box, just sat outside of it looking in and whining. Is there a manual that goes with this puppy thing? I know I looked for one with my own children when they were babies. No such thing! Should I crate her with them? That way she can't drag them all over. I really have to back to school tomorrow. I feel guilty not being with my students. After all, they need me too. Thanks, Alaska, for being out there!:animal36 |
Animals start running around and carrying their babies when they are nervous. Yes I would crate her with the babies. Either that or get an xpen to put them in |

OMG I just got on. Has she settled down any??? Have you??? She just may need time to get used to it. Do you have an xpen or baby playpen you can put her and them in so she can only take them so far? or use baby gates and a part of a hallway??? or else the crate. Good luck |
She's settling in. I really think she's not keen on me trying to go anywhere. As long as I sit with her on the couch she seems better. She just hated the whelping box. She is cuddled up with the babies in her favorite spot on the couch. I'll have to crate her tonight with the babies, and maybe tomorrow too. I have to look into a xpen. |
