stud penis question my boy has been at it with my girl so much that i decided to place a belly band on him and a diaper on my girl. i just noticed that the tip of his penis will not go back into the sheath i have never had this happen before but have read about it. now that it has happened, i cannot find where i read it and what to do. i have placed ky jelly on it. i am not sure if it was the belly band that might have caused some swelling or just how many times he was mating her....or if it is swollen. (it doesn't look swollen) i know there is more i need to do so i need your help. thanks so much lisa |
He might have some hair rolled up in the skin that goes over the shaft. You should be able to gently pull the skin over the tip of the shaft. You should keep you male and female separated and do not let them just free breed, that could be dangerous for the male and the female. |

i have been doing this for awhile and this is the first time i have come against the penis not going back in. he is my new stud so this is a first for him. Thanks for your suggestions |
Try running cool water on him to clean any hair, dust, dirt, semen off and add a little baby oil and try to get the skin back over the shaft. |
I haven't had it happen to me yet but I read a warm bath can help or put a little sugar on it (is that safe?) and he'll lick it off and it will slide back in. |
Is this what you're talking about (read further down in the thread)? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...light=lipstick |
The penis must be returned to its normal position inside the sheath as quickly as possible to prevent any further swelling...You can lubricate the shaft with K-Y Jelly...Push the prepuce back on the shaft of the penis while rolling it out to release any hair that may be trapped...Then with your hand gently slide the prepuce forward over the head of the penis...It is always best to shave the hair on their underbelly before breeding...If you can not get the penis back into the prepuce then you should call your vet to prevent any permanent damage...IT is almost always caused by trapped hair!..Good Luck! ~Laura |
This happened to my maltese, he likes to make love to his blanket:eek: :D :D My husband pulls the skin over it( very gently) and it will go back after a few minutes, I've never done it before but have seen him do it at least 4 times, the first time it happened, I called the vet and they guided me thru and said unless it doesn't go back all the way to take him in..................I wash him after just to make sure there is no hairs or foreing particles:animal36 |
how's your boy doing? I use antibiotic ointment after each breeding and have had this occur and have found it to be hair in my cases |
Lab My husband's lab ...when he was living... use to always ALWAYS ALWAYS have his penis hanging out... I thought it was a normal unneutered male thing...is it not? |
