What is wrong with him??? We brought a female over to breed with our male Friday afternoon but he doesn't seem to be interested in her. She started bleeding 11 days ago and is very much presenting herself to him but he could care less. He attempted to mount her Friday when she first came over but was unsuccessful and since then nothing. He is experienced having fathered 3 litters so far (one of which was with this same female!) What the heck is wrong with him this time, and is there anything we can do to try to make him interested. We've tried separating them for a few hours but he's more concerned about where the other dogs are and not her, and he is usually a humping machine! He follows her around where ever she goes but won’t do anything else. Thanks for any help! |
Hang in there it's probably just not time yet. More conceptions are missed by rushing things than the other way around. Let him follow her and when the progesterone levels are high enough he'll do his thing. Usually my gals are flagging for about 3 days before Connor gets down to business, usually on day 14. The gals are all different but the guys know when the right time is. |

flagging is an indication of readiness to breed, most females tail will move from side to side or straight up while they stand for the male to sniff her. They sometimes do a little dance as well, the mating dance! |

bath Yorkie studs are not like human studs..they perfer the bitch to smell...seriously, do not wash away the odors..haven't you heard that a male can smell a bitch in heat in from a long distance, that is why people find stays sitting on their door steps....there is a reason for this... |
