1st Heat Cycle - Very Quiet & Sad Stormy started her heat cycle this week. she has been very sad looking & just wants to sleep for about 4 days now. 1st sign of blood was today. when she woke up she didn't want to go outside to potty - just sat on me shivering - but she wasn't cold. Stormy normally loves to go outside & is usually the 1st out the door! She has been sleeping on us all day today - Lexi did that too - But Stormy is so little I just worry about her. she weights 3lbs 10 oz & is 9 1/2 mths old I gave her some Nutrical earlier & she did eat a little bit of her kibble. She just looks so sad - i don't remember my other 2 girls being so sad while on their cycle. Is their Anything else i should be doing for her??? |
Poor baby...pms sure does suck. Just keep mothering and cuddling her the way you are now is all I can suggest. |
Give her some extra lovin'. She probably feels a bit puny. Hugs and kisses and maybe a nice warm compress on her sweet little belly. |
i would just go ahead and get her spay so she doesn't have to go through the heat cycles any more. poor little girl must be feeling so poorly. give lots of hugs and kisses |
I agree. Why not just spay her before her next heat? Lisatodd, I've been meaning to tell you that the Yorkie in your avatar is so adorable.:) |
Stormy is such a loving lil Girl - So sweet all of the time. Stormy seems to be doing alot better the last few days! Back the her perky lil self!!! I will need the spay her - doesn't look like she will grow enough to breed. I wll ask the Vet about it when she goes in for her shots in June. he will want to get any remaining puppy teeth out at that time. Thanks for everyones Help, Kim |

Even though she's already had one heat cycle, you can still get important health benefits by spaying her before her second heat: In dogs, a female spayed before her first heat will have a near-zero chance of developing mammary cancer. After the first heat, this incidence climbs to 7 percent, and after the second heat, the risk is 25 percent. If your pet has already gone through one or more heats, we still recommend spaying. Spaying can help shrink mammary cysts and prevents pyometra. http://www.cvm.umn.edu/vmc/forclient...rbenefits.html |
