Runt i am keeping the runt of Bellas litter....do they usually stay super small? the reason i ask is because she is half the size of her littermates so i didnt know if the trend would continue and she would stay small? |
Sometimes the smallest can grow to be the biggest and visa versa. The previous litter I had turned out that way. |

runt Every litter has a runt, at least all of mine have. As the above poster said the runt may not stay that much smaller but many do. In all 7 of my litter the runts were female and they all stayed much smaller but it's not a given. You'll probably have to wait til at least 8 weeks to be pretty sure |

It's not an indication that the dog will be that smallest. She may end up being the biggest. Our smallest from our last litter ended up being the 2nd largest out of 4 pups. I would say you really can't tell until the pup is an adult. |
When hubby bought my molly he said the breeder told him she would be 5-7 pds, she is going to be 10mths old and is only 3pds, so you just never no. she was not the runt. |
Hmmmmm.... I've never had a runt. So I do not believe that every litter has one. Once you've done the breeding, you will know more about their size as they grow. You really have to know those lines and what they do when. I have some that are born super big and quit growing. I have others that were born small and grew to be rather large. I've never found the weight charts to be accurate. They all grow at different paces. |
Here is another question about my lil runt baby. She sleeps more than her bigger siblings, she gets up and plays with them, but she just sleeps more. Should i be concerned about her? she is not shaky or anything i am just wondering |
age How old are these puppies..? |
