Yorkies being jealous I have two female Yorkies Lilli is a year old and Lexie is 4 months and I have a real big problem with bones with these two. If anyone can help with any comments I would love it. I have put as many as 6 bones on the floor for these two and Lilli keeps getting them all she will not let Lexie have just one I have tried everything but nothing is working I am about to stop giving them any but Lexie is getting her baby teeth out and needs them and Lilli is just wanting to be a pain in the butt! Toys are the same way I,Lilli is the spoiled one and is a little DIVA and I really mean that Lexie is more like a tomboy and goes along with anything so please help me out Thanks Kristi |
One thing you may want to try it to get the puppies to understand that You control the toys, not them. Instead of leaving all of the toys on the floor at all times, pick a few of them up and then give them to each dog when you decide to. Then pick the toys up again and keep them in your posession for awhile. This shows the dogs (especially the older one) that they are not in control of their toys, you are. This will hopefully help them to shift their focus away from getting toys from each other and instead figure out how to get them from you. Good Luck! |
yes i second that suggestion......... but it isnt just being jealous, it is also being the "dominant" one in teh pack, you need to teach the older one that she is not the "alpha" in the pack... you are.... My mother had this problem too with her dogs, what she did was if one was being "hoggy" with the chews or toys.... they got separated and the other dog wich was not being hoggy got to choose which one she wanted, then after a little while the older one would get her chance, and if she got hoggy again, the separation started all over again.... she still gets that way once in a while, but not nearly as bad as it was before (i think she does it now mainly because she is old and grouchy, she doesnt hog the toys anymore, but she does pitch a fit if the other dogs approach her when she has a treat/ toy she doesnt want to give up) Good luck |
