You need to be extremely careful in the selection of your bitch if you plan to breed. Do you know her lines really well? I would stay in close contact with this breeder until this is solved. Truth is if it were me I think I would return the pup if there is even a doubt as to the integrity of the breeding and go with a breeder who will mentor me and help me to become a breeder of excellence. It's one thing if it's a pet but you just can't settle on your breeding stock. |

It's not easy to get someone to entrust you with their line and hearts work. If you go to shows and talk to breeders, get to know them a bit and let them see your heart it would help. I've been showing for a little over a year and have just now obtained a mentor. I'm the type of person that once I decide to do something I like to go full force and do it now. I'm having to learn to slow down and be patient, it's not easy! I have several gals that she wants me to rehome and we are defining my breeding goals to establish my line. Finding a foundation bitch is not easy but one of your most important decisions. Keep at it, the gal that you want is out there, you'll find her. |

The way I think about it, if I spend 20 years rebuilding a classic car, something that everyone recognizes and hails as a wonderful creation, I'm not going to turn around and give the keys to some teenager who's never been behind the wheel before. |
