First I am confused why anyone who says they don't have time to have a litter would take this as something they would like to do? Do you realize you can loose your girl to having a litter. After the 9 weeks and she has her pups, she can go into eclampsia, if this happens someone better be there with her and no what the warning signs are so you can help her. Please don't think that having a litter is something to take light heartedly. Here is a link, if you have time and care to find out what is involved before deciding to breed your girl. There is a lot of expense and heartbreak breeders go thru. I had a litter of Cavalier pups, and I still today over one and a half years later am taking care of one of the pups, he has heart disease, and he had a brother who also had it. I tube fed him every two hours when he was just a few weeks old. This was not only time consuming but very costly. Many breeders would have taken the back door out of it and put them down. I am responsible for bringing them into this world so I kept them and took the financial responsibility of caring for them and Cardiologists are not cheap. I lost one in January but thank god the other one is doing OK considering his heart problems. What will you do if this happens to you and your pups? These are real things to consider. Here is the link Best of luck and I do hope you have time to research and think about this some more for your girls sake. http://lowchensaustralia.com/breeding.htm Deana Prestigeous |
Sure you can probably find some one to do your work for you , can you afford to pay someone? Stud service 750.00 Bitch Board 9 weeks 1,260 vets 100.00 x-ray's 100.00 possible section 800-2000.00 12 weeks of puppy care 1,680.. bitch care another 8 weeks 1,120 tail docking and dew claws 60.00 puppy shots say litter of four 80.00 + Finding homes for the puppies, maybe you plan to do this... I don't know who would do this for you, maybe if you had an exceptional bitch, that a good breeder might want to do this for you , but I think not. And after you think about what a litter costs and weighing the fact that you might loose the puppies and your girl, is it really something you want someone else to take care of. I think you are lucky you ask the question, gives you a few things to think about. |
Wow!!! I cant believe that you would want someone else to take on that huge undertaking!!!!!!!!!! I dont think you could pay me enough to be that responsible for someone elses dog. (although a few million would be nice. LOL) I dont even like to do stud service just because that makes me in charge of the bitch for a week or so. I cant even imagine taking care of a pregnant girl and having to do all the whelping, cleaning, feeding, etc. There are just too many what if's. Like an emergency c-section at 2 am. There are alot of people on this forum that do breed. But I bet they dont rely on others to do all the work for them. |
