If it was me - I would most certainly take the smaller one! It is always a risk, but I think you are safer with the smaller one not going beyond the standard, especially since you do not want a 9 pound yorkie. Going by King's House chart - 2 pound/32 oz. pup at 8 weeks probably get to 5.5 - 6 pounds. But this is just a guess estimated adult weight. Does anyone have the link to that chart? T. |
I would consider picking the pup with the best personality... you're gonna fall in love no matter what! But if the pups personality doesn't mesh with your's- then it may not be the "match made in heaven" you're hoping for... Then again, the one that doesn't seem as outgoing might just need a little time to warm up to you... I guess I didn't help much.... :cool: But congratulations on your new baby- which ever one you choose! |

I have a size question too. lol My pixie is 6 months a weighs a tad over 3 pounds. When is she going to stop growing, and how much do you think she is going to weigh full size ? thanks a ton ! Melissa |

I took Cowboy to the vet today--he is 5months old and he weighed in at 3.2lbs. Does anyone know when they quit growing? Also has anyone had any problems with their dog being easily frightened at this age? If he is alseep or just laying there and there is a loud noise he barks and gets the hiccups!!!! My husband thought he was being aggressive, but my friend said that he is just frightened and defending himself. What do ya'll think????? :confused: |
My 2 lb male and 5 lb female had puppies and one turned out 6lbs and another 4lbs. They can get genes from way back. Her first litter , she had one which i kept that is 2 lbs and the sister is close to 6 lbs.She was bred to a 4 lb male that time. I would never tell someone the size the pup is going to be cause i can't tell. Maybe some people can, but not me.I never could figure out what to put on the pup's papers when they ask the color. You all know yorkies change colors the first couple of years if not longer.9 lbs isn't standard is it? I thought i read 4 to 7 lbs. Maybe i'm wrong.Is the parents or grandparents bigger than 7 lbs? |
Sounds like a typical yorkie trait to me. Mine hear the faintest sound and they go off like a alarm. Not sure about the hiccups, they do get excited and start snorting and sometimes i need to lightly rub their throats. Does yall's yorkies birp? all of mine do. lol |
I agree with the BREEDERS on here who say that a good breeder will never guarantee a weight. Yes, breeders should know their lines and NO they cannot judge one litter by another..So, I would say to buy the pupy tat has chosen you OR not take either and look for a puppy that is older and nearer its adult weight already. My dogs have never produced a 6 pound puppy/adult but that is not to say they won't..And, it is not to say that they will not produce a 2 2 1/2 pounder.. The largest puppy I ever had was an only child male. He weighed 6 ounces at birth-Lordy he looked like a Rottie he was so big. As an adult, he is a perfect 4.8 pounder with wonderful conformation. He lives with a puppy from a show kennel that looks the world like a giraffe.. |
