Typically dogs have a cycle every 6 months, but it is not uncommon to go 7, 8 or even 10 months between each cycle. Watch for swelling in the area and pink color and as Mardelin says: when you are expecting a cycle wipe with tissue and if you notice any swelling or pink or red discharge. |
Relax They can be late I have learned. Cozy was due in Sept. but did not have her heat until Nov. 30, 2007. It was a warm fall so her cycle was delayed according to her vet. and some breeder friends. |
Thank u for all the replies! So it is possible for them to be late? She is 2yr old now and she has only had one heat which was last yr of Nov. So I thought she was a 12 mths cycle but now I am unsure.. She is a very  ing. So should I just wait and see? But is it possible for them to stop having cycles at all??? |
You may have just missed it. And sometimes they don't swell much or bleed much either and/or keep themselves so clean you never notice. Are you wanting to breed her? If not, maybe just get her spayed and not worry about her heat cycles or any problems that may arise if she is not cycling correctly. |

Bad smell is not normal. You should have her checked by your vet. You may have just missed it, but have her checked to be sure. You should have your vet see her anyway for evaluation before breeding. |

Ask for a Smear to be done on her....this will identify if she has foreign bacteria which most likely can be taken care of with an antibiotic. Type of antibiotic will be determined on the bacteria. |
