Lost Breeder Well, to make a long story short, I bought a durrer line yorkie and fought for breeding rights. Got them and now he is 5 years old, never touched a female. Due to the large rep vs American and Canadian kennel dogs and being stricken to only breed Canadian kennel registered dogs due to breeding, lets just say considerations. So, we live in this little town in the middle of Canada and have found it impossibly difficult to find another person with a breeding quality female. With out the knowledge of breeding puppies, we assumed we would purchase a female puppy for breeding from the same place we got our current yorkie. Which I need not list the price unless inquired but lets say it's way way up their to get a breeding female that is registered with the Canadian kennel papers. also known as CKC I believe. So... we are lost and my question is would you as a person attempt with all willingness to preserve the breed line, because I was informed that under the father of the puppie I have no others were given breeding rights. Would having a strong breed line constitute eagerness to breed? Or should I simply enjoy my puppies life span, and ... I guess leave his gear in place as it would be a little late to get him neuter now. Hope you follow what I mean, and if I am misunderstood please don't hesitate to ask, we are really new to the complete concept of breeding Yorkies as being without the experience tends to make one unknowledgeable. |
It is never too late to have a male neutered . |
breeding You do not have to be concerned about preserving the Durrers line..Betty Anne needs no help in that department. I would neuter your pet..best wishes |
It could be that none of the other offspring of your dogs sire were given breeding rights because they did not feel that any of his get was worth breeding. Just because he's from a well known line doesn't make him an excellent speciman of the breed. Was your dogs sire a champion? It's really difficult to get a good brood bitch when your new to breeding but you might want to talk to Tracy Smith of Crystal Waters there in Canada. She has some nice dogs out of Montclair and Glaranik and might have something that would compliment your male. |
sire a champion, I am not sure exactly which part of the line is this. The father.. 'max a million' The grandfather 'the devil himself' < might be wrong might be great grandfather. I can find out this information easily. Thank you for the Canadian breeders info, I am going to look strongly into getting a good bitch yet. I have been told Denzel is also allowed breading until 10 years old. And no he is just of the durrer line which is a little nicer yorkie in my opinion. |

I don't believe this was the case, just a way of Betty Anne perserving her line and Pat is right..Betty Anne needs no help in perserving the Durrer line.... I agree it's never too late to nueter your pet and let him live out his life as a pampered spoiled boy. |

Once you breed your male, or have him around intact females, be prepared for him to start marking in the house  Neuter him, its definitly not too late :D |
