Petey, Driving me CRAZY! Okay, SO my Bell is in heat and I have diapers on both boy and girl! He is such a little monster, that he wiggled thought his belly band and ripped off Bell's diaper, luckily I was able to get to them before contact. It has been 4 days of crying and moaning. I had the problem solved and was going to send him to my daughter's for a long week, until I received a call from a woman who wants to mated her bitch. I then looked for my vet for boarding, but I was too late. They are booked for all weekend. I just want to hear what everyone else does. I need some help here! Any body with some suggestions? I would use them. By the way I am having a problem sleeping as in his kennel all night he cries!:( |
stud I found only one solution that worked and made my life livable...we built on to our house so I would have plenty of space to separate my girls and boys...before that, I tried everything. Three weeks is a long time to keep dogs a part when skipping..even when breeding, I never allowed my males and females free run to breed as much as nature urged. By the time I had 3 bitches, we were sick to death of no life 6 times per year. One time I had girls in season for 3 months straight, one came in as the otehr went out...no break. Having the proper place for breeding, rearing puppies made all the difference to me..you grow old long before your time. A friend couldn't build on to her home , so she bought a wooden shed building...12x14...put in window AC, lights..and a small sitting area with TV. She had it constructed next to the kitchen door and made a covered walkway..Made it like a family room and her kids spent time watching TV there also..When her bitches were in season her two males went in the "stud" house...some may feel it is not for pets, but my Yorkies have always been pets and having separate areas worked perfectly for these times..sending them to friends and family got old fast, a week is not long enough...they must be gone at least 2 weeks. I was never at easy with my dogs away from me..too many get hurt or lost... Good Luck |
Thanks for the idea Pat. Bell is on day 13-14. It was fairly easy the first 2 weeks, but this week is like hell. The reason I didn't send Bell to my daughters in Orlando, is becasue Bell is a runner and I was afraid, if she got out that would be the last we would see of her. My home is fairly big I even have an inlaw suite for my mother, but Petey is just too loud! If I decide to build an area, it would have to be separate from my house, but close enough for me to go back and forth. Bell only has 1 litter left in her as she is 4 years old now. If Lilly doesn't conceive this year, I won't have to worry about either one getting pregnant anymore, as I will have them both fixed. ANd then my breeding days will be over for awhile. Thanks again! |
I dont have a male so I dont have to go through this but a friend of mine has min Schnauzers that she breeds, When she wants them to have a break she calles the vet for birthcontrol. Does anyone know anything about it?? Im not sure I just remember her telling me that onetime. |
problem If they have oral birth control for dogs, I would avoid it...too many things can go wrong when we keep everything as natural as possible..if we start messing with hormones, heaven knows what doors we would open... I have used several types of noise control in my house kennel...I bought a wall mounted sound machine that produced a loud, sharp beep when anyone barked too loud or long..it worked quite well..but it only works in a kennel type area..not good for a house. A friend who lived in the city limits of Baltimore used it on the outside of her back porch and got good results when hers went out for exercise. |

Thanks for all the insight. I had a female over here yesterday for mating and Petey didn't even notice her. All he wanted was Bell who was in the yard. Poor girl had her rear end in his face, tail to the side and he wasn't interested! They are coming back tomorrow! I will have to put Bell at a friends house and try again. Bell is now on day 15, how much longer do you guys think he will be like this? I don't remember it being this long the last time! |
