Puppies are here! 1 Attachment(s) Josey had 4 puppies on Saturday morning. It was a textbook delivery although she was a week early. Two boys and two girls. However, one of the girls is smaller than anything I have ever seen. She weighed 1 1/2 ounces. I couldn't believe how tiny! She seems to be a fighter and tries hard to nurse. She isn't strong enough to actually get milk though so we are supplementing her. I am trying not to get my hopes up - she is so small. But if she survives - I'm keeping her - she will be so special. |
OMG congrats! She is sooooooo tiny! I pray she will be a healthy lil girl. The others look like they could spare some weight and give to there sister! :) |
congratulations they are beautiful. Just keep supplementing the little girl. Are you tube feeding or using a syringe? |
Congrats on the babies!!! That little girl IS soooo tiny! |
pups Hi...your tiny looks well for her size..shiny and plump...the size I am very used to seeing...so keep her full and warm..best wishes |
I am not tube feeding - I am using an eyedropper and also trying to get her to suck on a little nipple on a bottle. I am also giving her just a tiny amount of nutrical for energy. The others weigh 5 0z, 3 1/2 0z and 4 oz. She seems to be a little stronger right now. |
puppy Check her palate to be sure all is well...I would ask the vet to show you how to tube feed..it can mean such a difference, but if not keep doing what you are doing... |
They are beautiful! Pinky was our smallest and I would get up every few hours to make sure she got on the fullest teats first. I also weighed her everyday to make sure she was gaining. Now at over a year she turned out to be the biggest of the litter at 6lbs. Good luck to you and your beautiful babies! |
Thank you all for being so nice and helpful. I have bred yorkies for 8 years and I have never had a tiny. So this is new to me. I am doing everything I can to save her. Pat, her palate is fine. I think as long as she is getting milk with the eyedropper and the nipple I will continue this instead of tube feeding. I give her about 1 cc of milk and her little tummy fills out nicely. She does not appear to be dehydrated. Keep us in your prayers! |
Ohhhhhh!!! How sweet!!!!!! The little girl is tiny but I bet she is going to be just fine!!! She will gets lots of extra TCL!!! Keep us posted!!!! |
awwwww how sweet. she is so very tiny. i hope everything goes well with her. |
Express the milk from the mom to feed her as it has all the nutrients she needs. Good luck with that baby. |
Congratulations! They sure are cute!!! |
OMG, they are too precious! Congrats! :) |
milk You can express moms milk as posted...every bit helps. |
Yes, I have been trying that. I hold her up and let her nurse as long as she can on mama and then supplement her. At first she sucks pretty good but she tires out quickly. |
Gorgeous and Congratulations! |
Congratulations on your new litter. Prayer's coming your way for that little one to make it. She looks so very tiny next to her sibling. Sounds like she has a good start. |

She is so itty bitty! She will be in my thoughts and prayers. |
Wow, that is the tiniest, most darling thing I have ever seen! Congratulations on your new litter and much luck and prayers your way that she stays healthy and gains strength quickley to be able to nurse on her own. I'm sure you will do everything you can to help make that happen. I wonder why she is sooooo much smaller? Could there have been a later tie with the male making her maybe even earlier than one week early? (did that make sense). No matter though, she's awesome! |
