Post-natal care Is there anything special I need to do? How often should I make sure she eats? She is eating like a chow hound. I gave her chicken and noodles tonight and she ate like she's never eaten before. |

Puppy food is high in Calcium and Protein. She will eat alot, nursing burns alot of calories. Also talk to your Vet, they always have great suggestions. Good luck |
Lexie has been eating up a storm since whelping her 4 pups three weeks ago. Right after she finished giving birth, I gave ther the post-whelping recipie that I found on YT (I believe it's Mardelin's recipie;do a search-you'll probably find it),then there is also a recipie for post whelping pudding. I've been mixing a little of that once or twice a day in with the puppy food I am feeding her. I pretty much keep something in her food dish at all times. It usually doesn't stay in there for very long. |
I feed my post whelp bitches wet puppy food four times a day. Mornig, I mix a tablespoon of cottage cheese in it, lunch, I mix dry kibble, dinner, I mix a tablespoon of whelping pudding in it. Mine is simple to make and my dogs love it., bedtime, she gets wet foodd with a calcuim pill smashed up in it. Dry puppy food is down all the time. |
I mix cottage cheese with dry puppy kibble and my nursing moms always get my cereal milk when I'm done. |
