Getting closer, Bella day 61 2 Attachment(s) That last couple days Bella has been lying around alot, she seems like its getting harder for her to breath. She gunts and grones alot. She lost her mucuis plug two nights ago. Not noticeing anything different with her today other than, before she would stay lying down when I got up, but today she follows me everywhere, she is getting up and moveing to a different spot the lying back down. Belly has been hard for two days. Temp was 99.0-99.4 but today it is 98.4. She was panting earlier but is not now. Her poor who-ha is so swollen and belly is so big. She seems to be more "awake" today. I know some human get that burst of energy before they deliver, do dogs too? Here are a couple more pics, the first is one from last night before bed, the second was taken just about and hour ago, right before i took her temp. Tell my what you all think. This is her first litter and my first Yorkie litter, although I have whelped many litters of just about every breed. Also does she look mixed to you? |
I don't know anything about having puppies but, wish you the best of luck. I'm not an expert but, she looks mixed to me. Can't wait to see pics of the babies! |
Well, from what you posted, sounds like Bella will whelp anytime now, but we were saying that to laurawolfe for about a week before her Dori had her puppies finally this morning LOL. But if you are on day 61 and temp is in the 98 range, I'd say she should be about ready. Good luck with the whelping! As far as her looking mixed, she does kind of looked mixed to me. Don't know if it's her size (she looks big;I don't mean PG big), or her short haircut, her long tail, or also notice a few white markings on her, but whatever, she's your baby and you love her just the same! Do you have reason to doubt that she isn't purebred? Just wonder why you ask. |
I think she looks mixed, however I also think she's beautiful. |

Just popping in to say good luck with your new babies on the way, praying for a safe and normal delivery:) bella is beautiful mixed or not;) |
The reason I ask is cause I have a friend the just got an AKC yorkie and she looks similar to Bella. I was told when my mother resued her that she is 3/4 yorkie 1/4 chihuahua. She is bred to a akc yorkie. Anyways, about Bella. I just found her hiding in my closest!!!!! She has been stuck to my side like glue for the past 3 days and now she is hiding??? Other than that, today she has been hyper, up untill about an hour ago. Maybe tonight is the night. LOL Maybe she's just hyper cause of all the rest she's gotten the past few days.:D But yes mixed or not, I love her the same and will continue to love her. I adore her for her personality, NOT her breed, though I do love the yorkie breed ;) |

She is about 6 pounds when not prego. It might jut be the pics makeing her look big, She's smaller then my bruizer. He was about 5 pounds up untill he was about 8 months old, now he is about 9 pounds. Any way, No pups. No change, Day 62. I am taking her with me to my mothers today (about 30 minutes away) as i have more packing at the old house to do. On my way to my mom's i am going to stop at my vets home (hes a family friend) and he is going to check her. and do an x-ray, just to make sure she isn't haveing big pups. I will post an update later. |
If she's a mix and a rescue than why did you breed her? I don't want to sound harsh but you don't know her background or what possible health issues may be involved. Are there genetic problems that can come through her lines? How can you guarantee the health of the pups? With so many mutts out there looking for good homes why did you feel the need to breed? I'm just curious as I don't understand. |
I didn't My mother bought her from a guy who wasn't takeing care of her, I found out later, by my vet that she was pregnant and called the guy and he said that he had send her to his brothers to breed her to is Yorkie. You didn't sound harsh, just looking out for the best intrest, I have been closely monitering Bella and the pups with my vet and if anything goes wrong he will be right there. This was posted in another thread but I will say it here to, Her pups are going to be sold on a spay/neuter contract. And I will be very picky of the new owners as I want her pups to be loved and taken care of through out their life time. Thanks though for looking out for Bella. |
Jenni - sending you well wishes on a speedy and healthy delivery!!!!!! Keep us posted. |
Good luck with the puppies! My Sassy is right behind her, tomorrow will be day 60 for her. She's not acting any different yet, but we are all ready for the impending birth. It will be interesting to see how close they have thier puppies! Martha |

Later I found out at her checkup with my vet that He (my vet) thought she may be pregnant, so we waited another week then he did an ultra sound and sure enough, so she has been well taken care of since we got her, but I called the man a couple weeks after i got bella and told him that she was pregnant, and he said "I know I bred her with my brothers yorkie and she is due the 29th of october" As on today we have no change other than her temp dropping back down to 98.0 today is day 63. |
