there may be restaurants in hk that specializes in such delicacies, but i didn't see them on my visit to hk several years ago. |
Actually, it's illegal to eat stuff like dogs and cats in Hong Kong, it's only in China that you would see stuff like that. Especially now, since Hong Kong has had all the scares with bird flu, SARS, etc. Hong Kong is much like Chinatown in every North American city, with a lot of Westerners, American or Canadian born Chinese and other East Asian races as well. We have many of the things you have in North America, like Dan Ryan's, Tony Roma's, California Pizza Kitchen, The Keg, KFC, Pizza Hut, etc. Our technology here is probably in the top 5 of the the world, losing just to Taiwan and Japan. We have the newest items like mp3's, digital cameras and almost everyone's favorite - mobile (cellular) phones. Hong Kong is not a third world country and I just wish some people would be a little bit more educated and read up on this wonderful city. |
We don't eat DOG & CATS IN HONG KONG Excuse me.... I found it rather rude to be asking such a question when this is a web site that teach us how to love and take care of our Yorkies. If we did ate dog, why are we here ? To see how we can breed them so they can taste like HOT DOGS? |

Hi everyone!!! I have a Yorkie too!! Also, I am from HK! But I currently live in US. :D |
It is actually a crime to eat cats and dogs (animal cruelty) in many Asian countries...How the heck do these rumors get started anyhow? I'm a Canadian born Korean and people think we eat dogs/cats too!..GROSS!!! I think it's a stereotype, just like all Asians are human calculators! |

Educate... Dont Hate... Quote:
Just the other day I was watching Discovery Channel, or it might have been Animal Planet and they had a special about humans and pets. And there was a small mention that Asians (mainly Chinese) eat dogs and cats, and they showed pictures etc... So, its not as though we Americans are just thinking crazy, its what is being shown to us through media. Nothing to get offended over, but rather educate us - as some of you have. I mean, I cant tell you how many people have thought of me as a BBQ EXPERT just cause Im black! Gotta take it with a grain of salt and educate - dont hate.... :) |
I was borned and grew up in HK. I left HK since 1994. Wish I could fly back to HK and just SHOP SHOP SHOP with my 2 silly yorkies. |
Polinesians???? I think that is the name of the "people" who eat/ate dogs... mainly lived from fishing sailing and the men ate the dog meat... if you to hystory channel.com you will find a special that aired a few years back, i am not too sure but i think still today in some cultures dogs are on the "menu" but i think yorkies would not "yield" much meat and more bones.... But for the interested on the BIZARRe ... you will find some information in there,,,, |
I was born in Hong Kong but left there a long time ago but still have lots of family there. I have a 2.5 year old boy named Saki. As for the whole eating dogs topic....I think it's absolutely horrible....the thought of it makes me sick! |
I lived in Hong Kong for nearly a year back in 1988/89.It was a great place! |

Every culture has a way of life whether someone agrees with it or not. I would not care to try any "delicacy" of cat or dog but I do like beef, sushi and chicken. I don't care for lamb but there are cultures that this is a main staple in their diet. To stereotype and to believe all of them is beyond me. There is way too much easy access to factual information to believe in hearsay. |
Duoduo and mom and dad are in Hong Kong! |
