Dog left to die in crate. help needed. A mixed breed dog named Rugar was left in the crate allegedly by it's owner Megan Otte after she moved out of the house. The dog was found dead locked in his crate a month later. Imagine how that dog suffered, alone and starving to death, unable to move around, find access to water or food or even relieve himself. This happened in my small town. I have started a Face Book Page Justice For Ruger. I am linking it here. I'm asking my animal loving friends to please join the page by liking it. On the page I have also posted a link to the Ocean County Prosecutor's office with contact info. If you can find it in your heart to find the time, please write them a letter or call and let them know you care, and want justice for this poor dog. I'm afraid if not enough attention is brought to this case, it will be dropped and this woman will walk with either no charges or a small fine. Thank you, my friends. i just liked. no furr baby should have to endure this..nor shoudl the owner walk away unaffected. |
I will like..that just makes me beyond sick! That poor dog.. |
Here is a link also to the prosecutor that is handling the case, for those of you that do not do Facebook. Please, write her and or call and let her know that people care about this dog and think the person responsible should be punished to the max. This is happening too much It has to stop. They need to be held accountable for their actions. Ocean County | Office of the Prosecutor |
I sent the officer an email encouraging the department to prosecute the responsible party to send a message that even if a conscience doesn't put a stop to treating a dog like this, perhaps fear of being prosecuted like this person will be. Encouraged the doglovers in that department to help see that justice is done for this poor little thing in an attempt to try to prevent this sort of thing in the future & doglovers are counting on them. Oh my gosh. What is wrong with people! |
Seriously? Someone should leave that woman in a cage so she can starve to death! It would have been more humane to just let the dog loose. How could someone be so evil? |
We just liked it. Awful. I don't get how people can be. Very sad. |
Thank you everyone. Please continue to share. It's a horrific crime and it's very scary because this woman has a five year old daughter and was worked in the health care field as a care giver. We also found an ad for pet sitting she posted with a picture of her holding a puppy. It was made several years ago, but I wonder if that poor pup she was holding was Ruger. :( Elaine |
Email Addy Here is an email address to the prosecutor's office if it would be easier for people to email rather then write a letter. DutyDetective@co.ocean.nj.us In the subject line please put: Attention Marlene Lynch Ford / Dog left in crate to die. In the email please request that the email be forwarded to prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford and let her know how you feel about the case and why it's important to seek justice for this dog. Ask for the max the law will allow. Thank you. Elaine |

Thank You. Just wanted to say thank you. Our page has 528 likes and I'm sure close to the same amount of emails that were sent to the prosecutor's office. Another animal advocate friend created a a petition and we collected over 3000 signatures. Probably could have gotten more, but we wanted to get the petition to the office. Will keep everyone posted as to the outcome. This is very heartbreaking because I know that Ruger is not the only one. Just this week two more were dumped in empty houses. One little Yorkie Chloe, was found in the empty house after being there for two weeks with no food and water. A rescue pulled her and she is adorable. The other Yorkie Nam, a separate incident wasn't so lucky. He was found in time, but died alone, in the middle of the night in his cage at the shelter. Stiffer laws need to be put in place with harsher punishment for those that commit these cruel acts. Please, lobby your legislator's for change. It's getting worse and worse and needs to come to an end. Thank you again. |
How horrific. That poor little boy :( You know she did not 'forget' and did it on purpose... So sad. |
