Unusual Animal Control Call I could not take it anymore. Being the animal lover and compassionate person I am for all animals I had to call animal control this morning on an issue I seen with 3-goats. There is a hosue at the end of my street that has 3-goats. The area I live is like an open rural area, so basically anything can go to a certain degree. So the goats are permited. We are experiancing the rains from the tropical storm Beryl is out area. It has been raining almost non-stop for the past 24 hours and it is getting very wet in my area. Last night I had to run out to the store in the heavy down pur of the rains and when I come to the stop sign I see these goats leaning up against this house trying to get under the eave of the house out of the rain. I was almost in tears. I said OMG I wish I didnt see that, now I am not going to be able to sleep thinking of this. In which I couldn't. So this morning when I leave to go to work, they are still there almost in the same place. My heart was broken, one of the goats was even standing on a brick I am assuming trying even more to get out of the rain and they were very wet. I am guessing that is where they were during the worse of the storm that come in Sunday night. When I got to work I had to wait till the animal control opened and I also looked up the address of the house on line to be able to give the officer on the phone. I told him this is probably going to be the strangest call you have today but I could not stand it. He said Oh Lord! He did tell me they would send someone out to see if the home owner can get them out of the weather. Just wanted to know what would you do? |
I'd do the same - good for you, speaking for animals that can't speak for themselves! You can tell a lot about a society by how it treats it's animals... |
I would have: Pulled up to the house and laid on the horn till the owners came out and then told them that their poor goats must have gotten out of their shelter. Called the Police. Called Animal Control. You did the right thing, I'm sorry you had to bare witness to this people and animals alike should not have been in this storm. I hope animal control was on your side? If nothing gets done about this call the Sheriff. |

I have seen these goats so neglected till it kills me. In the winter time they were in the cold no shelter. I had a friend of mine who was visiting me and seen them out in the weather in the coldest night. She actually went up to the house and told the people if they didnt get them some shelter she was going to call animal control. That after noon they were putting them on a runner type rope that lead to a garage. I dont get it and I know I have seen kid toys in the yard so no telling how the children are treated. |
Update on the goats! When I went home yesterday, I did not see the goats out. Thanks God it was raining very hard. I couldnt really see much in the back yard so I wasn't sure if they took them or if the home owner shelter them some where in back. This morning I was able to see a little better no rain. There was a pallet laid up against an opening to one of the sheds in the back yard so I am not sure if that is where they put them. They still were not out in yard this morning. I am hoping animal contol took them to a nice farm and field where they need to be. |

Good for you! What do they need neglected malnourished goats for anyway? |
