Humane Society Alert. I've said this before over and over. People think when they donate to the Humane Society US, that they are helping animals. Ask what the saleries are of the people running it. You'll be surprised where the money actually ends up. Please donate to your local animal shelters as well as the SPCA as well as the ASPCA They are the people helping animals. This place is lining their own pockets! |
Sickening isn't it? People will do anything for a dollar it looks like. Its a shame what you donate too, you can't even trust the fact it is used for what it is suppose too. |
HSUS is NOT what they want you to believe they are....very little of the money they collect is used directly for the benefit and WELFARE of animals. But when you tell people this, they think YOU are being dishonest. |

Don’t be misled by propaganda commercial breeders are spreading!!!! While it is true, the US humane society doesn’t fund local shelters, they do help them set up and give them education material. Probably the number one job they do is educate, but education does cost money, from the printing of materials to the television news spots. The National Humane Society is more involved with law making and helping make laws that protect animals. For example, your local humane society does nothing to help protect dogs from dog fighting; the US humane society does this. Commercial breeders of all animals, not just dogs, get together and help pass laws that benefit them; we need a national group that looks out for animals. Who else would do this important job? Not only that, but they provide animal rescue on large scale operations, such as hurricanes and closing of puppy mills. They investigate animal cruelty; operate wildlife rehabilitation centers and emergency clinics. Look here to see some of the work they do: About Us : The Humane Society of the United States. Another thing, the American Institute of Philanthropy mentioned in the video, is itself very controversial. “The major criticism from low rated charities is the claim that AIP’s rating system does not follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or rules for reporting financial information on the IRS tax Form 990. These groups posit that if AIP took the figures as reported in these financial documents, their ratings would be outstanding” American Institute of Philanthropy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia People need to be aware that commercial enterprises definitely would love to close down the Human Society of the Unities States. This charity guide gives the HSUS a very high rating. Charity Navigator Rating - The Humane Society of the United States Financial Performance Metrics Program Expenses 77.0% Administrative Expenses 3.7% Fundraising Expenses 19.1% Fundraising Efficiency $0.18 Primary Revenue Growth 15.4% Program Expenses Growth 8.7% Working Capital Ratio (years) 1.23 The question I'd like you to ask yourself is who else is going to push for laws to protect animals? |
These are really good points Nancy. Thanks! Quote:

I donate to direct care (shelters, rescues, sanctuaries). But I find it just as important to donate to organizations whose focus is NOT direct care....we need both, without question. It's so important to educate people about animals and animal issues (cruelty etc), in addition to providing them care. |
