No Kill Advocate Issue # 1 http://www.nokilladvocacycenter.org/...ents/enews.pdf Please take a few moments to read.....THANKS!! |
 Thanks for posting! Interesting read. I wish I could go to the conference, but I'm doing an internship this summer and won't have time off to go! |
Thanks for taking the time to read the newsletter. I probably should have included the link to their home page for anyone interested in finding out more. Here it is. No Kill Advocacy Home Page |
Thanks for posting this, I hope more people are reading it. I am a follower of Nathan Winograd. I really like what he has to say almost 100% of the time, with a few exceptions. Have you read a lot of his stuff? |

Good to see someone here that is familiar with the No Kill Advocacy Center. |
WoogieMan, are you thinking of attending the conference? |
No, I won't be going, but I would love to see our shelter director go. Our local shelter is doing so many of the 'right' things, but still has about a 50% kill rate. The one thing I see is the fees charged for picking up your dog or cat after it has been picked up. It can be $120 for an intact animal. I think some folks get their dogs for free and won't pay to get it back if it winds up in the shelter. That, and there's so many owner surrenders. It's like a dump for unwanted animals. Can't blame the shelter for that but I think they could do much better. It's funny (not in a ha ha way) that they seem to find homes for animals when there's a mill or hoarder found out. Somehow the resources just seem to be there for these animals. It's the ones that aren't publicized that seem to get the short end of the stick. |
