Vet accused of helping dog fighting This just made me sick to read. Although he is not in my immediate area his "practice" is within 15 minutes of my to the south. There have been numerous reports of dog fighting new the area. What is further disturbing is that he LIVES about 5 minutes from me in a very nice area! I hope he is convicted and rots in prison! Home > News > South and Southwest Chicago news Park Forest veterinarian arrested Doctor accused of failing to report dogfighting A Park Forest veterinarian whose troubled disciplinary past includes allegations of substandard care that left pets dead, "drooling into" a dog during surgery and watering down vaccines to boost profits has been criminally charged for allegedly failing to report dogfighting. Dr. Gary Friederich, 64, owner of the Park Forest Animal Clinic, was arrested at his Palos Park home Thursday and charged with six counts of violating state veterinary law, according to the Cook County sheriff's office. The investigation began after police received numerous complaints about the clinic, including photos that showed urine-soaked boxes and blood-caked syringes inside the operating room. State investigators were also eyeing the clinic's medical and records-keeping practices. Undercover investigators from the sheriff's office took dogs that had been brought to south suburban animal shelters with dogfighting injuries to Friederich for treatment, a sheriff's spokeswoman said. One undercover officer brought a black female pit bull that had its left ear bitten off to Friederich, who instructed the officer to bring the animal to the back door after being told it had been injured in a dogfight, according to a police report. Friederich asked the officer if the dog had won and then, when the officer asked if his dog could fight again, was told it would be "as good as new," the report says. During the next visit, Friederich asked an assistant "We just gave that dog a rabies shot, right?" winked at the officer and billed him $55 for the shot. Later testing showed the pit bull had never been vaccinated for rabies and was in worse condition than when the officer brought it to Friederich, according to a police report. Friederich, whose veterinary license is temporarily suspended, has been disciplined six times by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. In its most recent, 21-count complaint filed last month, he is charged with "professional incompetence" and "gross malpractice." So of course I needed to check out where is jerk lives since I know the area well. Check out his home! I am going to guess that it's at least a half million if not more. I want to throw up just thinking about the morals of this POS. I'm sure he knew exactly what he was doing with his practice located in the area that is was.....and I hope it will forever be in the past tense! 13159 S 80th Ct, Palos Park, IL 60464 - Google Maps |
I'm gobsmacked. They need to not only lock him up and throw away the key, but also hit him HARD in the pocketbook. |
I doubt if he would ever see prison on those charges. I read his license is only temporarily suspended. It would be wonderful to see people start something to get his license to practice permanently withdrawn. He is sickening. |
disgusting  Ill never understand how someone can go into veterinary medicine and care so little about animals well being- I have seen (not personally thank god) numerous examples of it over the years. |
I read that in todays paper and was sick.I hope he gets jail time. |
Uh! That just makes me sick. I just hate to think about how often this goes on. I saw a documentary once where female rescued dogs used for dog fighting had had all their teeth removed professionally! Perfectly healthy dogs with teeth removed so they could be forced to breed. What vet would do this for no reason? |
I hope they take his license to practice away for good!! And also fine him heavily. I don't think he's going to jail but he should!!!! What a disgrace! |
He's been in trouble 3 times with the VMA. As of yesterday he had been arrested and is currently in the Cook County Jail. :D Maybe he will see some of his "friends" while in hanging out in the county jail. It's a lovely place and I'm sure he will get a very nice meal for Christmas. |

Unbelievable -- no, on second thought the sad part is it is so believable. People are people in all walks of life. Just being a vet, does not take all the greed, malice, and just plain heartlessness out of them. I too, hope they can permanently take away his license! Hard for me to believe they didn't take it away permanently for watering down vaccines -- I mean honestly, how much could he really be saving? When they buy vaccines in bulk, the cost is minimal. They are risking the lives of dogs for mere pennies. Also makes me wonder about every single person who has worked there. They have to all be aware of the unsanitary conditions and at least suspect the other horrors. Shame on every one of them! Hopefully there is a special little corner of hell, where these people can endure some appropriate tortures for eternity. |
OMG Jodi.....this makes me want to grab Sugar, hop a plane to ORD or MDW.....pick up you,Bogey and The Dude and light a big stinking paper bag of whoop a$$ on him  I'm pretty sure that Cathy and Dave and their 3 musketeers would help too......maybe we could bite his ear off and give him a shot of arsenic????? This could be the "worthy cause" I've been looking for this Christmas.....keep that address close! |
It gets worse! Putting live dogs in the freezer????? OMG  This poor excuse for a human being needs to be neutered at the VERY least  Park Forest Veterinarian Accused of Covering Up Dogfighting - WGN The best vet around - Dr. Fredericks - Park Forest animal hospital - park forest, ID - Viewpoints |
I've been looking around too to see what else I could find about this guy. I think my sister and BIL used him before to crop their Dobs ears twice for their puppies when he worked for Palos Animal Hospital. From what I can tell he was affiliated with them at some point. He was the guy who everyone recommended for ear cropping. Quote:
I've stood outside of a pet shop before to protest I would have NO PROBLEM paying this fool a visit. It really makes me sick. |
I know this is giong to sound cruel to some people but why not tie him up and let the pit bulls hold of him....so he knows how they feel when they are hurt from fighting. |
