We're getting a no-kill shelter! It's a 20-acre plot with a small wooded area and pond. It will also have a limited amount of large-animal rescues. There will also be a dog park, a pet cemetery, and a walking trail. Construction will begin next spring. I'm so happy that there will be a safe place to take lost and abandoned pets finally. It has been in the works for a long time. The land acquisition has been the cause for the delay for some years! The architectural layout will allow for additions, too. Anyway, I'm ecstatic!:D No longer will I look at those poor sad eyes and feel so hopeless. |
That is wonderful news :D |
That's wonderful news! When you say "we", are you talking about your town, or are you more directly involved in this project? |
That is so wonderful. Is this a private shelter or a public one? Wish we had one here.... |
Private shelter. No gov't entities involved. Thank goodness! |
It will serve the whole county, too. |
That's great. The no kill shelter I volunteer at is in jeopardy of closing if donations are not brought in in large amounts. They are doing everything they can do keep it going. They are turning away dogs and cats every day now. If they don't they can't take care of the 300 + they already have.. These shelters need volunteers, donations and supplies to keep going. I urge anyone who can to try and help their local shelters anyway they can, so these precious animals can find there forever homes and not be out to sleep. |
That's such wonderful news :)! |

If you don't already, you could raise money through crafts and sell tickets to dinners. If you have any pet supply stores, perhaps you could go a couple of days a month and have a few pups and ask for donations of food and money. Petsmart has pets from shelters like this. You could also ask your radio and tv stations to place announcements that donations are badly needed to keep the shelter open. When in need, beg!:D |
