This is all very good info and I totally agree that IF people would just read then this wouldn't happen. But the reality of it is that most don't want to listen to the advice given so the breeders stop posting. And the reading well most want quick answers or the cliff notes version on breeding. Well there isn't one. So with that being said all we can do is keep posting our advice and hope that someone listens.

Some do listen so don't give up....it is the other ones :thumbdown

Could we make a stickey and post it in the Breeders section....and title it before you breed? Maybe we could get a breeder to put a few thoughts down also...what do you think?

Carol, I have learned who the experts are! Thanks for calming me down yesterday..:) I had the pleasure of meeting some of the BEST Breeders in our Country at the Dallas Show 2 weeks ago. I was so impressed with Mardelin,Tegamom1,Brooklynn and a very special lady Mary,(Mardelin) Mother. These are very professional Women that love this breed and only want to better this breed. When they speak, I listen.

She DOES tell it like it is....and always with the best interest of the pups foremost in her mind.
That IS why all of us should be here. Sadly, it is not the case. It is not pups first, me second for many.....priorities are definitely askew.

I just want to say thank you for posting this topic. People read all the time about travesties, animal overpopulation, homeless, rescues, abuses, euthenasias, etc, but seeing the raw numbers, is a powerful way to make it really hit home.

As you are reading this post we are SCRAMBLING to find this little guy a home. This is going on RIGHT NOW at YHR! This is why we get upset and angry! Please take a look for yourselves to see what it is really like after a puppy grows up and goes out into the cruel real world. Many time they come back with a story like this.

Please take a look at this thread in the rescue forum for a Yorkie that was just found at dumped at the Post Office. He has a sign around his neck and a HUGE BURN on his back that reads:

This little guy was abandoned at an area post office with a sign saying “I need a home.” He appears to have a burn on his back with a lot of hair loss. Our guess would be he’s 4/5 years old, maybe older; he is not neutered. If you can help rescue him please contact us.

I have been seeing other breeds with burns like this and the girl at the shelter said she has as well. She said their vet said it might be a burn from being outside. Whatever did it, it looks just awful. :( They bathed him and put a salve on it, so I do know they are trying. They also told me that as long as they know we are trying to place him, he will not be euthanized. Of course that is not forever, but at least for now he is safe.

Not only did this one have a bad experience with LIFE and abuse from Human hands, but now the possibility of EUTHANASIA!!!

Well at least it is not a chemical burn and he's safe FOR NOW :( How about Heartworm :confused: Probably if he has been left outside and the sun did that to his skin. :(

They did not know for sure what it was....the vet was guessing. Might be that...I really do not know. All I know is it looks awful. :(
I am going to call her tomorrow...I forgot to ask approx age..and also if they do hw testing.

This is a reason why I usually like to get dogs that are looking to be rehomed or from a shelter. We got our purebred boxer from the shelter and she is one of the best dogs I've ever met. I have seen a few threads that are disturbing lately. I wouldn't breed if I didn't have money to cover extra expenses. I wouldn't breed a dog that isn't of standard or was deaf or blind. I think it is alot of greed, thinking they can make a quick buck. But that is the world we live in today, theres always been these kinds of people and there always will be. Unless we can start fixing humans who are just plain evil so they aren't adding evilness into the world what can we really do? Not everyone is passionate about animals.


I just found out from a breeder friend of mine that she sent one of her dogs to a friend of hers in the US. She knew her well, spoke with her for a long time before making the decision to send her dog there, a bull terrier. Well this lady got sick of the dog after TWO WEEKS! And what did she do? She tied her up in the backyard for 6 months. Taking her in and taking pictures occasionally to "show" that the dog was doing well, tricking this woman for 6 months with lies of the beautiful farm she has and beach and forests around her house. Making lies up that she had to put the dog to sleep by authorities. Well the dog escaped a few times and finally the last time the dog got out some nice people found the dog and somehow got into contact with the breeder and the dog is now back with the breeder. I saw pictures and it's just horrible, she had cuts all around her neck from the chain :(

Theres sick people in this world and you can't do much about it unless you put those sick people to SLEEP! I love my animals so much, they are better friends to me then some skin friends I have and YES sometimes I am not in the best situations with money, I was laid off and had a horrible experience with my last dog, but I did what I COULD for her and I would do what I could for any of my pets, whether it means that I am broke for a while or don't get to do something for myself, I would rather do what I could for my pets and of course my daughter. That is what I live for and that is what I work for and that is always going to be #1 in my life, unfortunately not everyone thinks like that and it is a shame :(

Very well said!! I worked in a shelter when I was young, had to pick what dogs got killed that day, even had to hold them. And the look in their eyes behind the cage they live in. So when I hear my dog is cute and my friend would looove a puppy from her I get so Pi**ed. Let them work in a shelter for a while maybe then they would understand. And I get so upset when others try to tell people and then get told HOW MEAN you are. I like the fluff also welcoming new members, telling someone how cute their dog is but the best part of YT is all that I have learned.

I know I'm just from Oklahoma, but can I get in on the hug, too? I need it after thinking about that poor little guy all night.
