Can't get her to sit She does the commands she's been trained on, and she IS still learning. They told me it would be a bit tougher with her being small. I do the nose thing, pull it back, try to get her to sit, and she just isn't getting it. This is hurting my back something terrible, and she's super frustrated at the end of it. Any ideas? |
Just after I posted this, I had given her a break- only do things in 3 segments, so I don't over-do it. I had my husband come out and give it a try. she wouldn't come to him or listen. I had her come, then tried. Yeah, she got it at that point. I'm SUPER proud of her!!!! |
How small is she? My girl is small but it was all about the treats and wanting to please Mommy lol. I saw your update and I am sure patience, repetitive requests and TRICKS will usually do it lol :) |
3.52 pounds. She's... well. here, current picture of my little stinker. The trainer says that the nose trick is a bit more difficult with the little guys. Enclosing a picture so you can get a visual. I only have one of her in her snoopy bow on the computer that's recent. I'll be back in a bit to post one. |
Lol no clue what the "nose" thing is? |

You put the treat above their nose and push back until they sit. I had to tell her sit and help her do it to get that to work. The bigger dogs in class (lol, all of them) had no issues. |
Ahhh I guess every trainer is diff, we used a diff way w Ella :) |
1 Attachment(s) I said I'd post pics; Here are a few from today, and the first night we brought her home. |
So cute! I only see one! |

I know she's kind of getting it now, but try putting her up on a chair or couch and you sit next to her so you don't have to bend over. This also helps for teaching down. Since they are so small, if you pull the treat down towards the ground, many times they just look at it instead of laying down. If you put them up on a chair, you can lower the treat lower than the seat and it will help them to get it. |
