Why is my yorkie doing this?? My 3 yr old yorkie Bitsy will at random times jump my 7 yr old male yorkie. He can just be walking through the yard and she'll come tearing around the house and grab him by the ear and just shake him. She is bigger than he is. We have another small dog in the house and she doesn't bother him at all. I don't know what to do:confused: My husband said if she were to accidently, and God forbid, kill him when she does this that we'll have to put her to sleep  Said if she gets the taste of blood that she'll do it again..is this true?? Hope someone can help me. |
check out your library videos of The Dog Whisperer. I only have one Yorkie, and he has always been calm little guy @ 5 1/4 lbs. I do remember seeing several of the t.v. episodes of "The Dog Whisperer" starring trainer Caesar Milan on the National Geographic Channel (not sure of his last name's correct spelling). But he did work with many family's pet dogs who would go after another family dog at home, and even dogs who tried to attack strange people or their dogs during outdoor walks. It would take too long to describe the basic methods he used, but if you could watch a couple of his shows where he dealt with this "attacking" issue within one household's dogs, you may get some really good techniques to try. The dogs were of all breeds and sizes! Our library has a series of these tapes and the shows still run on t.v....so watch some until you see him work with your dog's same issue. I know he did deal with dog attack issues quite often. Good Luck! (She has to basically realize she is Not allowed to attack him, period) |
Does your husband realize that dogs are hunters??? Yorkies were bred to chase varmints. It's an old wives tail about a dog becoming aggressive after tasting blood. Your female may have other behavioral issues, but the taste of blood has nothing to do with it.( dogs lick themselves when injured, so that right there shows how absurd your husbands claims are) P.s. We have a hunting dog that retrieves dove- shot by a gun, with blood on them. He carries them in his mouth-and often gets blood in his mouth. He has not turned into a murderous animal. |
Please don't leave them together when you go out. |
Sometimes my girl will take a fit and charge the other one but it's only rough play, she grabs the ear the leg etc but it's rough play cause the other one plays back . |
Digging up carpet Can anyone tell me why my little guy wants to dig up a hole in my carpet? He also chews it up when he gets the hole dug. |
My little 8 month old yorkie bites my 6 year old cockerspaniel's ears and he will bite at his legs. My cockerspaniel lets him know if he is being to rough, I mean he doesn't bite him back he just barks at him. He seems to not do it as much now. He just wants to chew up my carpet now! |

biting I guess he could be and I try to keep him in chew toys. Right now I am letting him chew on an empty water bottle and he seems to love that. I hope that is safe for him. It sure is keeping him busy. |
