Flyball anyone? Does anyone play with their yorkie? |
I don't because I don't think Jackson has THAT much motivation for a ball but it looks like a FUN sport. It can be very strenuous for the dog so teaching them how to properly do it is crucial. But Yorkies, who love toys and tennis balls, I'm sure would do fabulous with this  |
I did it with our (former dog) yorkie cross. It was fun for both me and him. The teams liked it too since the smallest dog set the jump height. |
even though shes over 2 now- i really want to teach bambi!! she is soo fast, a brilliant jumper (on the move- as well as still) and loves catching balls! and what a height dog she would make! i cant remember her height, but shes only 3lbs weight! lol but do they have to meet a certain weight to work the board? that could be an issue... |
flyball At three pounds Bambi would most likely not be able to trigger the ball. I looked in to it for Jonah at one time and I think they do need to be at least two years old. The thing that turned me off is that most groups are very competitive and because the rest of the team is counting on your dog he had better be ready. Here the groups also travel a lot to compete at different shows. |
lol, figured as much! but it would be hilarious!!! ah well, maybe someday with someone else!!!! |
here they have to be over 1 year (so the bones are more soild) Not sure if 3lb would trigger the box, probably not but you never know if they can land on it right, they have to catch the ball too or it's a fault for the team. The minimum jump height is 7 or 8 inches. It's 4 jumps, so 8 jumps total per dog. But they usually run 1 small dog to drop the height and then 3 big dogs who then don't have to waste time jumping as they can mostly just run over that low of a height. All 4 dogs can run the race in around 30 seconds. It's crazy to watch. |
