Jackson's agility beginnings
 
I purchased some weave poles off of Amazon back before Christmas and am just now opening them up.

I know next to nothing about agility and just started guiding Jackson through them with a treat. This video was shot literally about ten minutes after first learning the weave poles. He never seizes to amaze me, I love this dog. :p We're still totally in the beginning stages... I don't even know if we're doing this the right way or not so any tips would be appreciated!! There's only 5 poles right now, it came with 6, but I started Jackson off with 2 and he found that too easy so I put him 4, then added another, so now we just gotta add one more :)

I'm planning on signing him up for an agility class in the summer hopefully so we can learn more!

(if you're watching this right after I just uploaded it, it's gonna be blurry!)

It's just a matter of time before Jackson is a national agility champ. Be sure to let us know when he starts getting televised. :)

I believe he could REALLY be just that! There is something about him that says "I am a top champ in the making" :) He could even eventually be in movies at the rate he's going!

Great job Jackson and Brit!! He is a natural.

If you are looking to expand your home agility equipment, Target carries a 6' long kiddy play tunnel for $16. My guys love it!

He certainly has a look of steely determination in Brit's avatar! You can tell he knows he's #1. :D

Hehe! I don't know about that -- there's some pretty good agility pups out there. We shall see :p;)

LOL, aww, Jackson is blushing. :animal36 Thank you! We've worked hard together & are a great team. I can only dream that he would be in the movies someday!

Wow, thanks for the tip! I'll check out Target tomorrow. I couldn't find a tunnel any cheaper than like $25 on the web. I don't see it on Target's website?

I didn't see it on their website either, but I found it in the toy section, I think near the pool and outdoor stuff. It is orange with blue netting "window" panels. My guys really like watching me wrestle it to collapse it and put it back in the closet, lol.

I have yet to get any of the agility stuff, its still on my "to-do" list. This may motivate my butt to get to the store LOL

LOL, go for it. :) It's actually really fun. I can't believe I JUST opened them. I literally ordered them the week before Christmas. They were pretty inexpensive compared to everything else I saw. Amazon.com and they're the AKC Junior edition.

Jackson looks awesome! What a smart handsome boy he is!
At the park, we once encountered poles set up like that, but farther apart. Armed with just encouragement, I got Kaji to weave! I can't wait to move out somewhere with more space and buy my own agility kit!

Jackson seemed to catch on quickly! WAY TO GO!!! Bailey and I just completed our first session of classes and we are addicted! =) one thing i would say to make sure of is that you always have Jackson enter to his left (thats important) hes a cutie! You can buy tunnels for $25 at toys r us and if you have a handy husband or boyfriend he can make you some jumps with pvc

Thanks! I found out AFTER I shot the video that they need to enter to his left, hehe, told you I knew nothing! LOL!! I will shoot another vid after we practice some more. This was after about 10 mins of practice and it's been so rainy and gross, we haven't done it since! I'm going to look for more tunnels and I also bought a jump from amazon!

Yeah, just start him from the other side. He's new enough with at this that it shouldn't be a big deal switching him. That's all I really know about it. He should know that in case you get more involved w/agility. BTW, I've heard trainers say that the weave is the hardest for dogs to learn to do well. Knowing you, you'll have him competing soon. You are sooo good with him! Every dog should be so lucky to have you for a mom! : ) Go Jackson!!!

That's awesome!! We have a park with some agility equiptment too (nobody is ever at this park either!) but no weave poles! They've got the a-frames and stuff which is nice because I can't afford those yet lol.

Yeah, we honestly haven't worked on the weaves since this day so I'm sure he will pick up fast. Funny thing is, he was actually trying to go in the other side but I made him go the other way! Ha! He knew better than I did :rolleyes: And aww thank you!!!

Jackson is a really quick learner. He reminds me of my first yourkie Rambo in looks and attitude. Bo learnt to ride on my back while cycling in one lesson, ho just so wanted to learn and be involved in everthing. Good luck in teaching Jackson the other agility disciplins.
