My 6 month old puppy runs from all dogs ( all sizes, breed ectt) My six month old puppy runs away from all dogs, sizes breed even tiny dogs.... he panics and runs away shakes like he is nervous and whines... He only gets along with people but with any type all dogs he just panics and if i get them close together he barks at them while he runs away:( :( |
Maybe he has already had some bad experiences with other dogs, did you just get him??? If you have had him since he was a puppy then I would say that you probably have waited a bit long to get him socialized. You usually want to get them out around people and other animals right after they have all of their shots. You want them to get a lot of different interactions and experiences so that they grow into a well adjusted, calm and social adult. Its not too late but you need to let him get used to other well behaved dogs. |
Yorkiechick1 is right he may have had a bad experience with a dog which is why he is scared. Do any of your friends or family have a dog which he could slowly get to know? this could help him over come his fear and trust other dogs again. :) |
I have a similar problem. Bentley hides under my legs when confronted by both large and small dogs, even if the other dog was quiet. He came from a big family of Yorkies. His siblings would play with each other and try to include him but he would stay away from them, go by the corner of the play pen and just watch. We are scheduled for a puppy play date with my friend's chihuahuas soon. Its weird cause he runs away from dogs smaller than him but he growls at and attacks cats that are bigger than him. |
Hi.. Thanks for your reply... I had chewy since he was 2 month old and been around him since he was born :( i do believe i lasted long to get him next to other dogs he is always with us. This is like the third time he's around dogs :(... Makes me feel bad because i feel is my fault everytime i seen a dog i will pick him up just because he didn't have all his shots :( and to keep my baby safe...:( |
Don't be sad, try to find one a nice friendly dog to come and spend some time to get to know your puppy, I'm sure it wont take long. It must just be a good experience. ;) |
:) Thank Your so much :) |
