AKC papers Chloe is going on 9 months old. Purchased her in January, 7 months ago and still no papers from the breeder! Is this common or something I should look into with AKC? I sometimes feel as if I'm getting the run around, and believe me, we paid a pretty penny for those papers! Tx! |
That's a very long time to not have gotten the papers. What are the reasons you are being given as to why you haven't received the papers? Did you get your puppy from a breeder? |
It usually only takes me about 2 weeks to get my papers back from AKC and I usually have the registration AKC papers already in my possession when pups are placed. I would be on this breeder's case if you have done everything you were suppose to do. Go back to your contract and restate what the breeder put in there about papers. If you were suppose to have her spayed and send in the paperwork as proof to the breeder to get her papers, be sure you do this. |
What does your contract say about the papers? I think I would be wondering what's going on by now too. |
Wow thats a long time you should pull the breeder up on this! |
The papers should have came with the pup unless there was a prerequisite that you had to have her spayed and send proof then they would be sent |
Do you have any documents from the breeder when you bought your pup? You should have a contract, nothing necessarily formal, that says when they will give you the papers. Mine was after neutering. However, you should have something that says the name of the dam and the sire and the liter number with the AKC. All I got from the breeder, after I showed my pup had been neutered was an application which stated the liter number and her name as breeder. I answered some questions on it, paid and sent it in to the AKC. I little while later, I received the "papers". If you have the liter number, I am sure you can call the AKC, I believe in NC and they can help you from there. You can probably give them the name of the breeder and they can tell you whether she is registering her liters. If the entire thing is a sham, take her to small claims court. People should not be allowed to get a way with that. I paid over 1K for my dog and even neutered, I wanted his papers. |
