Getting Close...Today is the 1st Due Date! I took Jasmine's temp. about an hour ago and it is around 99.5...definitely under the normal range. I talked to the breeder (of the stud) that has been  breeding about 20 years now and she predicts it will be 12-18 hours before delivery. She has been coaxing me throughout and tells me to calm down. I have everything ready, but I'm still anxious and nervous. I am taking the day off of work tomorrow to be here for Jasmine and in case a vet. trip is necessary. Jasmine did her "nesting" last night and hasn't eaten today...her personality is very shy right now. She has colostrum now and her belly is very hard. She just acts very strange. I don't think she understands what is happening. Yes, I am a new member but would love feedback here. PLEASE! Just for support....ANYBODY??? |

I posted while she was delivering and everyon her is SOOOO helpful!! Just relax and stay close and keep us posted!! Luckily for me the computer was within throwing distance from my whelping box!! :D :D It was one of the best experiences of my life and I am sure you will feel the same!! |

Hello How exciting. please keep us posted heres a link to a good site with a lot of info on welping and dogs temps . Good luck Hope it helps. http://www.debbiejensen.com/temp_chart.html Any temp recorded lower than 98.4 indicates labor should began within 24 hours If you dog goes beyond 24 hours and labor has not begin, call your veterinarian |
What I always say in times of stress: practice your deep breathing and try to relax. But, then again, I've never had a litter before. |
1st Time I talked to my stud breeder and told her that Jasmine wasn't that big...even to be pregnant...I guess maybe there is maybe two in that little belly...she says to keep my chin up and there is probably more hiding under her rib cage...I'm not looking for quantity at all, I just want to keep Jasmine safe...she is now lingering by my side and stays there...she comes and goes...I have just now started taken her temp. because I didn't want to become so frantic from day to day...she says now that it is below 100, she is close.... What do you think? Any objections? |
Wow, how exciting and scary. I know when Bridget gets close to the time for delivery I will be a nervous wreak myself. We just recently took her in to see her boyfriend (Jan 4th) and she had a great time frolicing with him for 2 days...lol. I will be going in for an ultrasound in about a week and a half, and plan for a xray the week before she delivers to make sure everyone inside is small enough to be safely delivered. Do you have anyone close to you that you can call in case of an emergency, or questions? I love the fact that my mentor friend is helping me with every question and concern I have over Bridget. Good luck and lets see pics of the puppies after they are here!!! :D |
Hi Kerri congrats on the upcoming litter...you will be fine just keep as calm as possible cause your little mommy to be can sense when your upset. It's great you have someone to help you thats experienced she can walk you through a lot even if it is on the phone. You'll do great, just keep your shoes by the door, the car keys in sight and your vets number handy. Best of luck, we want pictures soon:) |
Frantic Here Too! My stud breeder will be available anytime and I have a friend that breeds larger dogs (which is better than nothing) so I'm hoping I will be ok..I'm going to take Jasmine's temp. again tonight to see what it is...she is sleeping like a baby now so she is comfortable for the moment...I will take her to the vet. if things get to be too much. I know my limits here. I'm just ready now, ya know???? |
1st Time Jasmine is now beside me trying to sleep in a large plastic bag of clothes that I just purchased. Her head is out, but she is trying to be comfortable. Don't worry, I will move her to her nesting place...the laundry room...everything is in place there. She is just trying to be near me I guess. Would everybody out there still take the day off from work tomorrow even if her templ. doesn't change??? I have to be here but I have plenty of relatives checking up on her. |

Ohhh!! Keep us updated!! |
Okay, if the temp is 99+, she is nesting and she has not eaten today, if you do not have puppies tonight, you bet you will need to take tomorrow off. The temp will go back UP when she starts in active labor so keep an eye out for that. Not criticizing, but I am wondering why the stud's mom didn't suggest you have your little one X-rayed to determine number and more importantly SIZE of the babies she is carrying. So, be like an expectant dad--get ready for anything. But, don't be like him with his losing it..Stay calm and you can be more help and comfort to your mom.. |
