Exercise: It is really hard to keep a puppy quiet even after surgery. Do you have stairs for him to use instead of letting him jump on and off the couch or bed. He will try jumping and even if you are right there you can't always stop him. No running, wrestling or tugging right now. Gentle play with soft toys will be ok and if you can't have him right there with you put him in an XPen or crate.
I'm glad he is feeling better today. I know a lot of vets won't give pain meds because they think the pain keeps them quiet since they tend to hunker down but for anyone reading this that will soon be going through the same thing - insist on something for the pain at least for the first 24 hours home. |
Tootsie was spayed 6 days ago also had 6 teeth pulled!! Yes the vet sent us home with 8 tablets of pain medication...I think you are right, I think the pain med help to keep her calmed down!!! She hasn't been near as active. Her stitches will disolve on their own so there has been no need to go back to the vet...Thank goodness. We did the baby onesie thing on her as well to keep her from licking the area!!! Also, carried her around everywhere for the first few days!!! Boy is she mikin' it though~now she will sit at our feet and whine to be picked up!!! LOL!!! And, now if she wants up or down from the furniture or bed she stands there and whines~and yes we run to her rescue!!!!! My how they learn so quickly!LOL!!!Good luck with your baby-sounds like he will back to normal in no time!!!Sending our thoughts and prayers your way.
