Phooey on him! He's a naughty boy and he should not get any home cookin' for one week and no dessert for 2. Guys are so frustrating with their piles of stuff. It's impossible to keep a pretty house with all that!
You could try moving the piles into boxes - one for each file just exactly as they are on the counters.
Do you want to be mad at him because he's being a slob, or have him be mad at you because you want him to be neat. 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
