The sugar is good in case she looks sluggish or if she refuses to eat. Keeping her warm (no drafts especially) and stress free helps too. Get her one of those heated thingies that you can put in her bed, I can't remember what it's called but you heat it in the microwave, put it in a cover thingie, and it stays warm for 8 hours. It takes an incredible amount of calories for their tiny bodies to try to stay warm (shivering) and that they cannot afford.
I hope this helped |
She doesn't want it. I offered her some on a saucer and she sniffed it but refused it. I got some on my finger and forced it into her mouth and then offered her the plate again. She still wouldn't eat it so I went and got a syringe. I didn't really measure it. I just gave her about two full ones and about a half one, I think it's a 3 cc syringe. It was a fight all the way. She's so tiny, I worry about hurting her. Before I gave her this I offered her some more beef and she wouldn't eat it. It was cold out of the fridge so we warmed it up and she still turned her little nose up at it. I told her I wasn't going to have it and made her eat the formula. I don't know how much she can eat and I don't know how much her little tummy might have shrunk so I'm taking it easy with her to keep her from throwing it up. It won't do her any good on the outside. LOL
I don't think she needs a heating pad, she has 4 brothers to keep her warm. LOL She's sleeping again with her brothers wrestling beside her. I think she could sleep thru just about anything. LOL Sylvia
