yeah that's basically it. As long as the animal is chipped the scanner will tell you. it may not read the number or tell you which chip it is, but whoever is doing the scanning will be notified that the animal they are scanning is owned by someone. They can take the number they get off the scanner and check it with both avid and home again to find the person it belongs to.
