I wish we could have taken her too. But we are totally over packed and over our limit. When you're a no-kill you have to know your limits or you will become over run and you will lose the ability to even care for the animals you have. That's called hoarding. In order to be humane we have to know when to say, no. It broke my heart to turn her away but I knew I had too. And like I said, she would have never been adopted. In fact, I doubt she would have even lived long from the shock from going from 15yrs in a home to a kennel. No ones ever wants older dogs especially ones that pee in the house. I have 6 dogs of my own and I would literally have been kicked out of my house if I ever brought another critter home no matter what the circumstances.
Guys, please don't make me feel anymore guilty than I already do by saying I should have taken her.. Because I wish I could have..
I just had to talk about it to people who I knew would understand. I had to get it off my chest.
Remember that I hear and see these things every single day. And every once in a while I can't take it.
