I discovered tapeworms in Mia's stool a few months ago. I freaked out becasue she's kept inside, clean and on heartgaurd and I treat her with frontline. The vet told me about it being from fleas and that she could have picked one up on a walk or a short romp outside. Heartgaurd does not prevent tapeworm. If a flea is on them for a very brief time and they happen to ingest the flea they can get tapeworms. I felt guilty about her having any type "worm" and the vet assured me that it wasn't my fault. Anyway she got the meds and I had her tested shortly there after and she was clear.
