This rings true for me as well. I think it all depends on your existing baby as well and if he/she plays very rough by nature. I have two Doxie girls who are 12 and 14 pounds. When they play with my 2lb, 19.5 week old girl they play differently with her than they do between each other. It's like they know she's small and they play accordingly.

However, I did at one point have a boy Doxie (15 lbs) who did not do this. He played rough with my girls and played rough even more so with my Yorkie. I think he thought she was a toy. He did this so much so that she became terrified of him. Correcting him didn't help it was just in his nature to be very rough and hyper. I had to keep them separated for the duration of his stay.
